Satellite tech finally comes to cheaper phones thanks to this handset

Satellite connectivity is one of those features that’s great to have, but you hope you never have to use. It allows your phone to connect to satellites in low-Earth orbit (LEO) for calls and messages when you don’t have service. But it’s often locked behind pricey flagships and more premium devices. At CES 2026, Infinix unveiled the Note 60 – a more affordable handset that offers “always-on” global communication system.

The Note 60 is set up to stay connected across nearly two-thirds of the planet’s surface. When you lose signal, the phone quietly shifts to satellite mode without having to go through a set-up process. The data rate clocks in at a humble 4Kbps, which isn’t much, but is plenty for HD voice calls and two-way messaging.

Of course, satellite isn’t the only headline-grabber here. Infinix’s HydroFlow Liquid Cooling system swaps out conventional cooling parts for vibrating ceramic bits that push fluid through the phone at twice the usual speed. There’s a nearly invisible 0.1mm piezoelectric fan that pulses 25000 times a second to keep your hands from sweating mid-game.

Speaking of gaming, Infinix brought out a split controller setup with magnetic triggers that turns the Note 60 into a handheld console. Almost. The triggers use proper micro-switches and the touchpad in the controller is pressure-sensitive. Then on the back of the phone, you get a colour-shifting backplate. It isn’t just for show, it reacts to ambient light and temperature, changing its look in real time.

The Infinix Note 60 Series, including the Note 60 Ultra, doesn’t have a firm release date yet, and there’s no pricing as of now. But given it’s an Infinix handset, it will land well below the price of the usual satellite-connected suspects in budget territory.
