Apple is reportedly planning to offer new Apple Card sign-ups an almighty incentive – a free pair of the company’s flagship wireless earphones, the AirPods Pro 3.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company is planning an in-store promo that’ll start as early as next week. It seems the promotion will certainly be available in the United States, but it’s not clear whether it’ll apply in other territories.
New sign-ups will need to head into their local Apple retail location and sign up for the card. If you choose to buy AirPods Pro 3, you’ll get their value back as a credit that pays them off.
In a post on X, Gurman wrote: “Apple is planing a pretty big Apple Card sign-up incentive for as early as next week in retail stores: if you sign up for a new card, buy AirPods Pro 3, then you’ll get $249 cash back. In other words, if you get an Apple Card, you get free AirPods.”
While that sounds like an awesome leg up for new subscribers, there’s not much in it for the likes of me, who’s had an Apple Credit Card for years and has watched as the interest rates on the savings account drops by a couple of percentage points.
There is a current incentive for Apple Card holders, but it involves bringing a secondary (or “co”) account holder on board. If you do so by May 18th, you can earn $100 in Daily Cash when the co-holder spends $100 in the first 30 days of being an account holder. Beware though, anyone who becomes a co-owner shares responsibility for the entire account.
“Apple Card Family lets you share the great features and benefits of Apple Card with anyone you call family. Add a new Co-Owner2 to your account by May 18 and they’ll get $100 Bonus Daily Cash when they spend $100 in their first 30 days,” the company explains.
“A Co-Owner can be a partner, spouse, or someone else you trust. You’ll manage the account together, build credit as equals, and you can even combine credit limits to increase spending power.”
