Part wireless speaker and part sculptural art piece, the LS Luxe is what happens when industrial designer Ross Lovegrove is given carte blanche by KEF to craft something that looks as good as it sounds.
An evolution of the LS50 Wireless II all-in-one speaker pair (which were already creeping into lavish territory) the LS Luxe dials things up even further with a unique look, high-end materials and clever moulding compounds that bring even more clarity and deeper bass. It’s the latest in an ongoing partnership with Lovegrove, who is renowned for his flowing, organic designs.
“At KEF, we have always aimed to redefine the listening experience and make it truly inspiring,” company president Grace Lo said. “LS Luxe is that vision realised. True luxury doesn’t announce itself – it transforms the atmosphere of a space, blending design excellence and acoustic mastery in a way that feels both immersive and effortless. When people ask what luxury sounds like, this is our answer.”
The bundled remote control almost as attractive as the speakers themselves, with an aluminium top plate and backlit buttons. A customisable favourite key puts your most listened to tracks within easy reach.
Inside, KEF’s 12th-gen Uni-Q speaker array puts its tweeter precisely at the acoustic centre of the 6.5in woofer driver. The assembly is mechanically decoupled from the chassis to isolate vibrations, while the firm’s Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT) deletes 99% of unwanted rear sound from the tweeter to eliminate distortion.
This is also the first time KEF has used Velocity Control Technology in its wireless speaker range; motion sensors actively reduce distortion and power compression for what the British brand calls “unrivalled bass precision”.
Each speaker has 100W of Class AB and 280W of Class D amplification, which is a serious amount of power for something relatively compact.
The LS Luxe is rocking KEF’s W2 wireless platform, which supports Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, QPlay, AirPlay and Google Cast via their respective native apps, as well as Amazon Music, Qobuz and Deezer through KEF’s app. It can also stream lossless 24-bit/384kHz PCM or DSD files from a local music server, along with multi-room playback if you’re minted enough to have multiple pairs dotted throughout the house.
HDMI eARC, analogue, optical, and coaxial inputs let it play nicely with a TV, turntable or other wired audio kit. A subwoofer output on each speaker can ramp up the bass, while compatibility with the KW1 wireless subwoofer adapter kit means cables aren’t a concern.
The KEF LS Luxe speakers land in Dusk Titanium, Eclipse Black and Mineral White colours for $4000/£3500/€4000 per pair. A matching pair of floor stands with channels to keep cables out of sight will set you back an additional $800/£800/€900.
