iPhone prices increased across the board as iPhone 17/16 and iPhone Air get the iPhone 18 Pro treatment

Following the launch of the more expensive iPhone 18 Pro series, Apple has surprisingly raised the prices on all of its remaining legacy models by $100/£100 too.

While the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models are all up $100/£100 on last year’s prices, Apple has now increased the cost of the iPhone 16, iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17e models at its online store. And all by the same amount.

While the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max have been discontinued following the launch of the new generation models, Apple has pushed the prices for the remaining devices to the following amounts:

iPhone 16: $799/£799 (+$100/£100)
iPhone 17e: $699/£699 (+$100/£100)
iPhone 17: $899/£899 (+$100/£100)
iPhone Air: $1,099/1,099 (+$100/£100)

Naturally, as you move through the storage configurations the prices increase further.

Apple held off on putting iPhone prices up when it raised Mac and iPad prices in June. The company has previously said that the manufacturing pressures brought on by the AI-driven RAM and storage crisis meant price increases had become “unavoidable.”

The fact that the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max increases – which now start at $1,099/£1,099 and $1,299/£1,299 respectively – was at the low end of expectations will be scant consolation to shoppers being hit by price increases across the board.

However, given Apple’s estimated bill of materials to make the phones reportedly increased by over £300, perhaps we should be grateful for small mercies.

Even the iPhone Duo, which starts at $1,999/£1,999 was at the lower end of the price predictions, with some reports preparing users for a price of up to two-and-a-half grand.
