Along with Netflix, Amazon Prime Video is one of the longest-running video streaming services available, but for many, it remains a bit of an enigma. Tied into the retail behemoth’s Prime subscription service and having been known by several slightly different names throughout its life (at the time of writing, Amazon is very keen that we refer to it simply as ‘Prime Video’ rather than ‘Amazon Prime Video’ – go figure), it’s never enjoyed the ubiquity of Netflix or the strong brand appeal of Disney+. So what exactly is Prime Video? What does it offer? How can I watch it?…
Elon Musk’s official role within the United States government is coming to an end. The billionaire Tesla CEO announced his White House departure in an X post on Wednesday night, thanking President Donald Trump for the opportunity to “reduce wasteful spending” by leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).“The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government,” Musk wrote, saying that his position as a special government employee was coming “to an end.”Musk’s departure was expected. iOS 18 was pegged to be one of the biggest software updates to the iPhone, ushering in Apple Intelligence – Cupertino’s answer to AI. So far, things haven’t gone exactly to plan. The roll-out has been a nightmare, with some features still not available almost a year after it’s debut. But good news, we’ve got some better software changes from Apple on the way with iOS 19. In fact, I think that iOS 19 will be the biggest free iPhone upgrade yet. Early leaks and rumours point to a major redesign – in fact, the biggest change in design since…
Introduction Aside from a few pro-grade microphones and wired headsets, AKG has been largely in cryosleep since Harman and Samsung hoovered up the storied sound brand back in 2017. Well, that long slumber seems to finally be over: the N9 Hybrid is the firm’s first pair of noise cancelling headphones under the new ownership, and it’s got a connectivity party trick you won’t find anywhere else. The ANC over-ears also promise epic battery life and cancellation tech to rival the class best. They’ll need it, as at $399/£299 they are being lined up directly against heavy hitters like the Sony…
Apple is going to change how it names its next set of major operating systems, Bloomberg reports. Instead of just notching up the version number, Apple will instead mark them by year. However, the numbers will apparently align with the year after the one the update is actually released in, similar to cars. That means that the next big iOS update will be iOS 26 instead of iOS 19. Bloomberg says that other upcoming name changes include iPadOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26.Apple plans to officially announce the change at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC),…
If you, like me, have begun to pick out accessories for your Switch 2 before it arrives on June 5th, here’s a money-saving tip: a handful of Hori’s upcoming accessories are at least 30 percent off at Amazon. My favorite (and arguably the most stylish) among the bunch is the Puff Pouch carrying case. Its design evokes the look of a puffy jacket, if not quite to the level of premium puffiness of Apple’s zip-up case for the Vision Pro headset. The Puff Pouch zips open and shut, with a handle on one of its long sides. It boasts room for…
Tesla’s latest iOS app update allows the user to view their car’s Supercharging progress on their phone’s lock screen, Not a Tesla App reports. The feature takes advantage of Apple’s Live Activities feature, which gives apps the ability to display real-time updates on your lock screen, like showing your Uber is going to arrive or when your ParkMobile parking meter is about to expire. In Tesla’s case, it can keep you updated on the charging session and help alert you to move your car when it’s done to avoid idle fees. The Supercharger Live Activity shows how much time is left in…
Healthcare company Kaiser Permanente is dealing with a system outage that is forcing its hospitals and pharmacies to fill out prescriptions with pen and paper — and is slowing down services at other parts of the company, too.“Kaiser Permanente is currently experiencing network interruptions, at one of our data centers, which is impacting some of our applications,” Kaiser Permanente spokesperson Kathleen Campini Chambers says in a statement to The Verge. “All of our clinical facilities are operational. However, members may be facing delays in certain services such as lab, radiology, and pharmacy online and in our facilities. We deeply apologize…
We’re in an age where you can realistically delegate tasks to smart hunks of metal, whether it’s a self-driving car or a robot that can clean on your behalf. Most of us probably won’t be able to afford the helpful sentient humanoids being developed in our lifetimes, but robot vacuums are an affordable way to experience that promised utopia right now.Today’s floor cleaners are also more advanced than ever. In addition to vacuuming, many of the best models can now mop, allowing you to tackle both carpet and hardwood flooring. Some can automatically dispense of their trash and dirty water,…
Tile trackers are getting more deeply integrated with the Life360 app. In a blog post published this week, Life360 announced that you’ll now be able to set up and manage the handy Bluetooth location trackers without using the Tile app at all. Life360, a family safety and location app, purchased Tile’s Bluetooth device-tracking business for $205 million in 2022. Since then, Tiles have been part of the Life360 app, allowing you to track the location of both people and items in one app, but you still needed to use the Tile app to set up the tracking devices. As part…
