Galaxy S26 Ultra set for 60W speeds, but it’s not the charging upgrade we seek

Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra smartphone could offer a much-needed fast charging boost that’ll have the battery back to three-quarters full in just half an hour.

That’s according to the known leaker Ice Universe, who reckons Samsung has equipped its next flagship handset with a 60W charging capability. Claiming an exclusive scoop, the leaker says he’s got word of Samsung’s internal testing of the handset.

“Official test results for the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra’s all-new 60W charging show it can charge from 0 to 75% in 30 minutes,” the leaker posted on X this week.

“These results were tested under Samsung’s controlled conditions. In real-world use, charging time may be longer or shorter depending on various factors.”

While the post doesn’t state whether this is wired or wireless charging, it’s safe to assume this would be when the phone is wired via a compatible charging adapter. It’s not clear yet whether Samsung will retain the same battery size Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is due to be revealed in the next few weeks.

However, this would be somewhat of an upgrade on the current Galaxy S25 Ultra phone which offers 45W charging speeds. Tests have shown that S25 Ultra’s 5,000mAh cell can be replenished in about an hour. It would also help Samsung catch up to some Android rivals who’ve pushed the boat firmly out when it comes to charging speeds.

While the difference between 45W and 60W is likely to be only a few minutes, sometimes that can be the difference between lasting a full day on-the-go, or being caught short.

Some Samsung fans may be more concerned about the wireless charging experience and the potential for the Korean giant to add Qi2 magnetic compatibility The S25 range missed out last year, and it’s something we’re looking to Samsung to rectify this time around. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 only went for the half measure of complying with the 15W speeds, but there are no built-in magnets in the device for that added sticktoititveness.
