Samsung is said to be preparing a wider version of the Galaxy Z Fold this year, and now we might have our first look (of sorts) at the next foldable device.
Animations have been discovered within a version of the One UI 9 build that’s scheduled to arrive later this year. Android Authority has posted animations with the H8 codename matching those spied within earlier builds. It appears, from the animations that the phone will have a much-wider 4:3 aspect ratio for the cover display, which then opens up into a tablet.
Recent rumours have suggested this 2026 Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide would be designed to keep pace with Apple’s iPhone Fold, which is reported to rock a similar, squarer aspect ratio. Samsung is reportedly looking at a 7.6-inch inner screen as well as a 5.4 inch outer screen.

The new device would be a little bit shorter in stature than the current Galaxy Z Fold 7. That model has a 6.5-inch outer screen and an 8-inch diagonal inner display. The ‘Wide’ Fold, which is unlikely to be the release name, could arrive as soon as this July, when Samsung usually reveals its foldables for the year.
