The promotional materials for the latest Made by Google devices feature a surprise – a mystery wearable fitness tracker or smartwatch Google is yet to officially announce.
Sat there alongside the Pixel 11 range, the Pixel Watch 5, new Pixel Buds Pro 2 colour, and a series of straps and cases, is a wrist-worn wearable with the display embedded within the strap.
Google did not announce this, but eagle-eyed fans on Reddit spied the mystery wearable amid the marketing materials and set about figuring out what it is.
Some Redditors reckon it may be Pixel Watch A-series model because it appears to be running a UI similar to the Pixel Watch, which runs on Watch OS
Others reason that it might be a Fitbit Charge 7, because it’s been three years since that series was updated. And the OS might not be Watch OS, it might simply have a Pixel Watch-like face.
The argument against that? Well why is it being advertised only alongside Pixel devices? And if it’s inclusive of Fitbit too, then surely the display-free Fitbit Air would be there too?
“I like that. Whatever it is,” added one user, which is apt because there’s not much consensus among the Redditors and Google is saying is nothing.
It does seem like Google is planning on adding something to the repertoire soon, but it is rather strange that the company chose not to reveal the device at the August 12 event that took place less than a week ago.
