Googlebooks are on the way and, judging by this leak of the forthcoming Lenovo 15 Googlebook, we can expect a premium start for the AI-powered laptop series.

MacObserver has published a full spec sheet for the forthcoming Googlebook laptop that’ll be built around Google Gemini. The highlights include a 15.3-inch 2800 x 1800 OLED touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 16:0 aspect ratio. It’ll reportedly be powered by an Intel Core Ultra 5 325 CPU, backed by up to 32GB of LPDDR5x RAM and upto 512GB of storage. The 70W battery will keep on trucking for 11 hours, the report says.

Interestingly there’s both a fingerprint sensor and ‘Google facial authentication’ to help you log into the laptop, and authenticate purchases etc.. The facial recognition feature hasn’t been mentioned before, but sounds like a version of Face Unlock that currently appears on Pixel phones.

Finally, there’s a haptic trackpad as well as 2x USB-C/Thunderbolt 4, USB-A, HDMI 2.0, and an audio jack. The site also published a few images of the laptop including the one below. Yep, that’s a laptop alright!

That spec sheet makes it appear this’ll be no cheapo Chromebook. A similarly specced Lenovo Windows laptop will set you back around $1,500. So, Google and Lenovo will be relying on the software magic to help shift a few units here.

One of which is Magic Pointer, which activates Gemini when you wave your cursor over anything on screen. There’s also a Gemini-based Create your Widget feature, that features data from Google Calendar, Gmail and the web. It sounds great for planning a trip.

There’s also deep integration with Android phones. You’ll be able to use Android apps directly on the display without using any additional software, while Quick Access lets you access your phones files easily.

An event is taking place on September 15 where the first Googlebooks will be revealed and we’re expecting the Lenovo 15 Googlebook to enter the stage then.
