Samsung has confirmed its next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place later this month with the company almost certain to unveil the Galaxy S26 range of smartphones.

The February 25 event will take place in San Francisco with Samsung already offering pre-order credit for those who “update to the next level of Galaxy.” Samsung’s teaser doesn’t tell us anything about what to expect but certainly made my eyes roll when a translucent cube rolled across the screen to reveal the word “AI” next to Galaxy.

So we can expect an hour of Samsung debuting Galaxy S26 phones that haven’t changed all that much from a hardware standpoint for what seems like the tenth year in a row. And a lot of talk about AI features that a small percentage of the smartphone-buying public are actually asking for, and will likely trickle down to other recent phones anyway. Cool.

Samsung has teased a display privacy layer that’ll prevent prying eyes from spying on your activity in public settings and will go a little father in blacking out passwords as they’re being typed. Samsung said that the feature is both hardware and software based, so there’ll at least be one signifiant hardware development for Samsung to show us.

“It took over five years of engineering, testing and refining to get here,” Samsung said last month. “We studied how people use their phones, what they consider private, and how security should feel in everyday life. The result is a fusion of hardware and software expertly calibrated to protect you without getting in your way.”

Recent reports have suggested Samsung won’t offer native Qi2 wireless charging capabilities. Samsung swerved the feature last year. It’s not clear why it wouldn’t make the effort to integrate the MagSafe-like magnetic charging a year on.
