Marshall’s mid-size Stockwell Bluetooth speaker has returned with a huge upgrade – its first big refresh since 2019. Stockwell III boasts one key upgrade – huge battery life that will keep your tunes going for over 40 hours, similar to Marshall’s much bigger Bromley 450 and putting rivals like the JBL Charge 6 in the shade. It’s available from August for $250/£200 and will be in black and cream colours.

I’ve had a previous Stockwell by my patio door for a few years now and it’s the perfect speaker to take outside with you thanks to water resistance – now rated at IP55. So you’ll have no problems with it in the rain. The unit has retained its tactile nature, with a traditional guitar strap-style handle and three knobs to control volume, bass and treble. There’s now the addition of an M button for a preset of your choice as well as a media jog wheel for skipping tracks or pausing play. You can also use the USB-C port for charging your room.

If you’re inside, Marshall’s True Stereophonic 360° tech will push audio into every corner of a room while Dynamic Loudless keeps clarity in check, so if the volume goes louder, bass and treble automatically adjust.

Marshall says that the unit is now more repairable with battery, carry strap, silicone sleeve and both grilles all being user-replaceable. Stockwell III contains 27% recycled material.

Perhaps most notably, Marshall has built repairability into the Stockwell III from the ground up. The are all user-replaceable — a meaningful step towards a speaker that lasts rather than one that ends up landfill.

“Since launching Stockwell II in 2019, technology has moved fast, and Stockwell III takes full benefit from this. Extended battery life, more powerful acoustics, and improved water and dust protection are just some of the key enhancements we’ve made. We’ve also refined the UI panel for improved tactility and introduced more modular parts to extend the product’s overall lifespan,” says Simona Berbec, product manager at Marshall Group.
