As smart ring-maker Ultrahuman points out, the human body produces an extraordinary amount of information every second, and computing systems have historically understood very little of it.
Its stated ambition is to move wearable tech from current systems that wait for human input to those that work in the background without needing work from the human it’s monitoring. And the Indian company now has new backing from chip giant Qualcomm to work towards this goal. Qualcomm’s tech is in many wearable devices, including glassses, watches and rings
The company believes that the important computing platform for the coming decade will be able to understand and work alongside the human body continuously, bringing in data from different devices including its smart rings such as the Ring Pro, it’s ‘Blood Vision’ tech, glucose monitoring and environmental information from Ultrahuman Home.
Ultrahuman has just announced $70 million of outside investment from other companies including Qualcomm through its Qualcomm Ventures arm – and the cash will be used for work on bringing together work on sensing, materials, electrical engineering, algorithms, physiology and clinical science.

Mohit Kumar, founder of Ultrahuman said of the move: “Computers have understood almost everything about the world except the person using them,” said . “We want to change that. We are building an interface that can understand the body continuously and translate its signals into intelligence that is useful in everyday life.
“Not another dashboard and not simply more data. Something that can help a person sleep better, understand cardiovascular health, navigate fertility and improve metabolic health.”
