Voicemod’s new pocket-friendly device brings real-time voice changing to your phone

Voicemod announced a new mobile device that expands the capabilities of the Voicemod Key dongle it launched in late 2024 as a way to bring the company’s real-time voice changing tech to consoles. While the older Voicemod Key only used a smartphone as an interface between the company’s mobile app and the Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch, the new Key Pocket can be used to change your voice or trigger sound effects while you’re playing games, making calls, or streaming on Apple or Android mobile devices.

The Voicemod Key Pocket is now available as a standalone device for $99.90 or as part of a $129.90 bundle that includes the hardware and a Voicemod Pro license. The extra $30 fee gets you lifetime access to the hundreds of voices created by the company and the thousands made by the community, the ability to create your own custom voices, and cloud syncing across multiple platforms without a subscription.

Although Voicemod first expanded outside the PC with the introduction of Voicemod Clips on iOS and Android in 2020, the mobile app could only be used to change your voice when recording short video or audio clips you could share afterward. Privacy restrictions on mobile operating systems prevent apps from altering microphone audio and sending it to other apps.

The Voicemod Key Pocket doesn’t change that. The pocket-friendly device, which can stick to the back of phones or tablets that support magnetic accessories, functions as an external audio bridge. Audio from a wired or Bluetooth microphone connected to the Pocket is altered by Voicemod’s mobile app and then made available to other apps, like Fortnite, Roblox, Discord, or the apps you use for making phone or video calls, through a short USB-C cable connected to your mobile device.

With the Pro license, the app provides access to over 200 voices created by Voicemod (instead of just a small selection of constantly rotating voices for free) and more than 76,000 additional options created by the community. The Pocket features six programmable buttons that can be used to quickly swap between voices or trigger short soundboard clips, a dedicated mute button, and a customizable glowing LED dial for altering voices or adjusting volume. Like the Voicemod Key, the Key Pocket can also be used as a voice changer for the latest generation of consoles, including the Switch 2 and recent versions of the Meta Quest headset.
