Summer 2026 has arrived, but that doesn’t mean you have to spend all day sunning yourself. If you’ve subscribed to a streaming service, then chances are it’s getting at least one big “drop” of content in June 2026, whether that be a new TV show or a new movie.

From unhinged ex-cons to even more unhinged little brothers, there’s a whole help of fresh series and films arriving on the likes of Netflix, Apple TV and HBO Max this month. And we’ve assembled all our highlights and recommendations right here so that you can mark them all on your calendar.

Cape Fear

Martin Scorsese terrified us with his 1991 movie – and he’s back as executive producer on Apple’s 10-part re-imagining, which swaps Robert De Niro for Javier Bardem as menacing criminal Max Cady – fresh out of the slammer and targeting the married attorney couple (Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson) who put him there.

S1 / Apple TV, 5 June

Alice and Steve

What happens when a firm friendship turns into an all-out feud? Described by its makers as an “anti-romcom”, this six-part series from Sex Education creator Sophie Goodhart stars Jemaine Clement and Nicola Walker as best mates whose relationship collapses when the former starts dating the latter’s 26-year-old daughter.

S1 / Disney+, 8 June

Sugar

The first season of this slick Los Angeles-set neo-noir blew our minds with a leftfield twist that, much as we’d like to, we wouldn’t dream of spoiling on these pages. Suffice to say, Sugar isn’t averse to getting weird, and season two promises more of all that, plus a fresh missing person case for Colin Farrell’s gumshoe to investigate.

S2 / Apple TV, 19 June

House of the Dragon

After a second season that felt more “drag on” than dragon, the Targaryen civil war is back to, hopefully, hit its full catastrophic stride. This season promises the Battle of the Gullet, the naval massacre that book readers have been anticipating for years, and which showrunner Ryan Condal held back specifically to give it the scale it deserved. Rhaenyra and Aegon II are more entrenched than ever on opposite sides of a family tiff gone apocalyptic, with James Norton joining the cast as the formidable Ormund Hightower.

S3 / HBO Max, 22 June

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Netflix’s live-action reboot of the beloved cartoon returns, and by the sounds of it, its makers have taken the criticism of season one’s limitations seriously. The city of Ba Sing Se was built as a vast practical outdoor set, the bending choreography has been ramped up substantially and fan-favourite earthbender Toph finally joins the gang.

S2 / Netflix, 25 June

Little Brother

A fastidious estate agent (John Cena) finds his carefully controlled life in ruins when an unhinged, uninhibited man who claims to be his brother (Eric André) materialises from nowhere. André in full flow is a hilarious force of nature – so maybe, just maybe, this could prove a rare thing: a Netflix comedy movie that’s actually funny.

Film / Netflix, 26 June
