Apple’s first folding iPhone (aka the iPhone Ultra) has leaked again. Fresh images shared by regular Apple leaker Sonny Dickson appear to show a detailed dummy unit of the long-rumoured foldable handset, offering what could be our clearest look so far.
While dummy units aren’t functional phones – they’re typically created using supply-chain information and manufacturing dimensions so that accessory makers can prepare cases and other products before launch – Dickson does have a solid track record with Apple hardware leaks.
The new images back up previous rumours that Apple’s foldable will use a book-style design that opens like a passport rather than a clamshell. Current reports point to a 5.5in outer display and a 7.8in internal OLED screen, making it roughly iPad Mini-sized when unfolded. The device is also expected to use an unusual 4:3 aspect ratio, giving it a noticeably wider shape than most foldables currently on the market, and a potentially more tablet-like feel in daily use.
The dummy model also appears to reveal a few smaller design details that haven’t been highlighted before. The cover screen looks almost edge-to-edge with gently curved borders, while the dual-camera module houses a flash positioned beneath the microphone array. The internal selfie camera also appears to sit in the top-left corner of the unfolded display.
Rumours also continue to suggest that Apple is prioritising thinness, with reports pointing to a titanium frame measuring around 4.5mm when open. Other expected features include a side-mounted Touch ID sensor instead of Face ID and a dual-camera setup on the rear. It’s worth stressing that none of these details (or, indeed, the device itself) have been confirmed by Apple.
As for the colour options, Dickson says that the device currently appears to exist only in white, echoing recent comments from leakers including Instant Digital. If true, it would be an unusual move for the iPhone range, although Apple has previously launched entirely new product categories with extremely limited colour choices, including the Apple Watch Ultra and Apple Vision Pro.
As always with pre-release hardware leaks, a healthy pinch of salt is required. Dummy units are often accurate, but they’re not official products, and Apple could still make changes before launch.
Current rumours suggest that the foldable iPhone could arrive alongside the iPhone 18 Pro range in September, with pricing expected to start above $2000. If true, that would make it the most expensive iPhone sold to date.
We expect plenty more rumours in the lead-up to then, mind, so watch this space…
