Amazon’s Prime Day sale is always packed with watches that look the part, but fall apart the moment you twist the crown. I’ve been writing about watches for more than a decade, so I’ve seen every shortcut, every flimsy clasp, and every dodgy movement. That’s why I’ve gone through Amazon’s deals with a slightly jaded eye to find the ones that are actually worth your money.
So I’ve found 14 watches from proper watchmakers like Timex and Citizen (mostly Timex), with most landing under $100 / £100.
All of these are great starters if you’re just getting into watches, others are cheap thrills if you just fancy something new. Either way, they offer real value.

1. Timex Ironman
Training for a marathon but don’t fancy an Apple Watch? You’ll want this 38mm Timex Ironman, a digital sports watch in grey-and-black resin. It’s built around Timex’s long-running Ironman five-button format: 30-lap stopwatch memory, customisable alarm, countdown timer, and INDIGLO backlight. Water resistance is rated to 100m, so it’s genuinely fine for swimming and triathlon training, which is the watch’s whole reason for being.

2. Tissot Seastar 2000 Professional Powermatic 80
This is a proper dive watch, with a large 46mm 316L stainless steel case with a ceramic uni-directional bezel, screw-down crown, helium escape valve and sapphire crystal. The watch arrives on a black rubber strap.
I love the black gradient wave-pattern dial with big, bold Super-LumiNova markers. It’s ISO 6425-certified to 600m water resistance and runs on Tissot’s Powermatic 80 automatic movement, complete with an 80-hour power reserve and a Nivachron balance spring for better anti-magnetic resistance.

3. Citizen Eco-Drive Odyn
A 41mm stainless steel sports watch with a textured green waffle dial, date window at 3 o’clock, and a matching stainless bracelet with a fold-over push-button clasp. It runs on Citizen’s Eco-Drive (light-powered, no battery), has a faceted fixed bezel and mineral crystal, and carries 100m water resistance. It’s a really solid everyday-sport watch.

4. Timex Weekender 38mm
A 38mm Weekender with a super understated grey dial that includes a secondary 24-hour inner track. It comes on a khaki-and-orange nylon slip-thru strap (20mm), which is the whole point of the Weekender line — easy strap swaps to suit your mood or outfit. It’s quartz, has INDIGLO backlight, and is rated to 30m/100ft water resistance.

1. Timex Marlin Jet
A 38mm Marlin Jet in satin-brushed stainless steel, fitted with a green woven fabric strap and matching green dial. The standout feature is the vintage-inspired Hesalite domed crystal, which sits over the grooved “Marlin” bezel for that retro-futuristic ’60s look. It’s quartz rather than automatic, with a screwed-on case back.

2. Timex Marlin Chronograph
A 40mm polished stainless steel case with a ice blue and black dial, steel bracelet and quartz chronograph movement with tachymeter scale. I really love this vintage-inspired design, and think this colourway is amazing. It has a date window tucked between 4 and 5 o’clock and the classic Marlin domed acrylic crystal and square indices at 3, 9 and 12.

3. Citizen Tsuyosa 37mm
I actually own this watch and wear it regularly. It’s a 37mm automatic sports watch with a sunray pastel pink dial, stainless steel case and integrated bracelet with push-button fold-over clasp. It runs on Citizen’s in-house Caliber 8210 with a 42-hour power reserve, has a date window at 3 o’clock under an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, and is rated to 50m water resistance.

4. G-Shock GMA-P2100M-2AER
This is the “Petite CasiOak”, the extra-small women’s version of the GA-2100 octagonal G-Shock. It’s a navy blue analogue-digital with pink-gold-tone indices, a 40mm resin case (around 40g), world time, a 1/100-second stopwatch, five daily alarms and a double LED light system. It’s shock resistant and rated to 20 bar (200m) water resistance.

5. Timex Expedition Acadia x Peanuts Beagle Scout
An outdoorsy 38mm Snoopy collaboration marking 50 years of the “Beagle Scouts”, with Beagle Scout artwork on the dial, luminous hands and INDIGLO backlight. It’s quartz, fitted with a fast-wrap nylon/velcro strap for a quick, secure fit, has an acrylic crystal, and is rated to 100m water resistance.

6. Timex Weekender x Peanuts 38mm
This watch is so fun. A 38mm unisex Weekender with a brass case, white dial featuring Snoopy artwork (with his hands as the arms), and a red nylon slip-thru strap. It’s a simple quartz three-hander aimed at casual, everyday wear rather than anything technical.

7. Fossil Campbell 42mm
Want Rolex looks without spending Rolex money? This 42mm stainless steel watch from Fossil really looks the parts. It has a black sunray dial, day-date window and mineral glass crystal. It’s paired with a matching stainless steel bracelet on a double-press deployant clasp, runs on quartz, and carries 50m water resistance.

8. Timex Expedition Acadia 40mm
A 40mm military-inspired outdoor watch with a green dial and black nylon fast-wrap (velcro) strap. It’s quartz, with INDIGLO backlight and 50m water resistance — essentially a lighter, strap-based take on Timex’s Camper-style field watches.

9. Timex Children’s Analogue Quartz Watch
This is a kids’ learning watch (although I’m sure many adults would rock it as well). A 29mm case with a gecko/lizard print, elastic fabric strap and quartz movement, designed with bold hour/minute markers to help children learn to tell the time, plus a companion “Time Machine” app.

10. Timex Main Street Digital Watch
A 36mm retro-digital LCD watch with a pink case, blue nylon strap and INDIGLO backlight – part of Timex’s throwback “Main Street” digital line rather than an analogue piece, aimed at a colourful, casual, nostalgic look.
