OnePlus will officially leave the European and US smartphone markets this week, according to a new report, as the parent company looks to consolidate its assets.
WinFuture reports that an announcement will be made in “the coming days” regarding the future of a brand that crashed the mobile scene as a Flagship Killer in 2014, offing high-end specs at much lower prices.
OnePlus has already begun guiding consumers to sister brand Oppo while stocks of devices in Europe almost extinguished, while a report last week also suggested the former’s OxygenOS user interface is being phased out in favour of Oppo’s ColorOS.
Back in April the company admitted it was “evaluating its regional roadmap and product strategy,” and now it appears as if decisions may have been made on that front with OnePlus ready to communicate that to user.
According to the report, OnePlus may continue to operate in China and India as (translated) “a simple product series of the parent company Oppo where cheaper smartphones and tablets in particular should find their way into the remaining markets.”
The OnePlus 15 is the last major handset released by the company in Europe and it appears that it may be the last. It was praised by Stuff’s Tom Morgan-Freelander for its “exceptional performance and battery life, great cameras and slick software” and said “this is the all-rounder Android phone for most people.”
