Casio has made another Ring Watch, and this time, rather than just telling the time, it’s packed with tech similar to the best smart rings from Oura and Ultrahuman.
It’s called the CRW-H001, and it crams heart rate, blood oxygen and body temperature sensors into a tiny metal band. There’s also a vibrating motor for notifications, a silent alarm, and even a proper LED backlight.
Just like other Ring Watches, Casio has built in actual timekeeping features. Similar to a G-Shock, you get a stopwatch, world time, and an hourly time-flash function that lights up on the hour, every hour.
The build is every bit as tough as you’d expect, too, with the website claiming it’s used metal powder injection moulding to shrink its usual watch complexity down to ring size, then finished it with mirror vapour deposition for that shimmery silver look.
On the health side, it does the now-standard smart ring stuff. Step counting, calorie tracking, sleep analysis, training logs, and menstrual cycle tracking all get a mention.
Heart rate, blood oxygen and body temperature are monitored continuously too, with the promise of recovery insights after workouts.
Casio is careful to point out this isn’t a medical device – the data is for general fitness nudging, not diagnosis.
Connectivity covers iOS 13 and above, Android 7.0 and above, and Huawei’s HarmonyOS 2.0 and above, though some features aren’t fully available on the latest HarmonyOS.
The ring comes in three sizes, roughly equivalent to UK ring sizes 9 through 11, based on Casio’s diameter measurements.
Obviously, while the Oura Ring 5 has shrunk things down to an impossible level, the Casio CRW-H001 looks a fair bit chunkier from the press images.
If you were hoping to buy one, however, I have bad news – this is a China-only release at the moment, with after-sales support limited to China too. So if you’re hoping to import one, you’ll want to check warranty cover before you do.
Pricing is set at ¥1,990, which is around US$295 or £220, avilable on on Casio China’s website.
