Apple has updated its Apple Sports app with new widgets that work in CarPlay, which makes keeping up with the latest scores easier without having to check your phone.

The latest version of the app offers two new widgets called My Teams and My Leagues. The former shows the latest scores for any teams you’ve favourited using the app, updating every so often. The other will show the latest updates from three games in, Major League Baseball, for example.

Previously, only Live Activities widgets from the Sports app were shown in CarPlay on the dashboard, so this is a handy update that will enable drivers to focus on the road while keeping tabs.

Users are able to configure the Leagues widget directly from their iPhone by heading to Settings > General > CarPlay > My Car > Widgets. You can select the Teams and the Leagues widgets from here. Select the ‘i’ icon next to the widget to showcase which of your favourite teams and leagues you’d like to be displayed.

Furthermore, the sports app itself now has more F1 tracking features. You’ll see the weather conditions, track temperature and windspeed, among other things. There’s also new World Cup tracking capabilities.

“Get ready for World Cup 2026 — follow your favourite teams and explore the groups on Apple Sports before the tournament kicks off in June,” the release notes say.
