Apple has confirmed every iPhone that was compatible with iOS 26 will be compatible with this year’s iOS 27 update. However, several noted Apple Watch models will not be eligible for the forthcoming watchOS 27 with a whopping four generations dropping off this mortal coil.

Starting with the iPhone, Apple confirmed that the iPhone 11 range from 2019 and the iPhone SE 2 from 2020 will be supported when the updates begin to roll out later this year. That’s despite reports at the back-end of last week claiming Apple was dropping support for those models. Thankfully that isn’t the case.

Unfortunately, that’s where the good news ends for owners of older Apple tech. The Apple Watch SE 2 Apple Watch Series 6, 7, 8, and 9, and even the first generation Apple Watch Ultra will not receive access to watchOS 27.

The Apple Watch Ultra is being cut off after just four years of support. The Apple Watch 9 gets only three years of support from the operating system. For a watch!

That means no support for the new Siri AI app, which is underpinning Apple’s software updates for this cycle. Only five Apple Watch models will be supported by watchOS 27. They are:

  • Apple Watch SE 3
  • Apple Watch Series 10
  • Apple Watch Series 11
  • Apple Watch Ultra 2
  • Apple Watch Ultra 3

Furthermore, Apple has confirmed that the last remaining supported Intel-based Macs will not have access to macOS 27. Only Macs with Apple Silicon can carry the new operating system.
