Users of Google’s Pixel phone series of handsets have taken to support forums to complain of a strange issue of the handsets ignoring incoming phone calls. Now, we know phones are often used for everything except having a little chat these days, but a phone not abiding by the functionality that gives it its name is still kind of a big deal.
The word comes from Android Authority, which has noticed an increasing spate of users on Reddit, as well as Google’s own issue tracker, complain the phones aren’t alerting them to incoming calls. There’s quite a wide gamut of Pixel phones suffering from the issue too, according to the report, which brings word from Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 8, and Pixel 6a owners.
One user wrote on Google’s own issue tracker: “My phone is not ringing at all. And is not popping up the incoming call screen when a phone call comes in. I have missed all phone calls today due to this issue. The only thing that pops up is a “missed call” notification and on my call log, it will show that I missed a call and will show who called, and when.”
Another added on Reddit: “People will call me and it won’t go through. Just hangs on the calling screen and then hangs up. My wife said it happens routinely and she will have to call me 3 to 4 times and sometimes my phone will ring. I see nothing on my screen.”
Some users have reported that resetting the network settings and then cold booting the phone resolved the issue, which appears to have developed since the last Android update. Google is yet to officially comment, nor responded on the issue tracker with a fix. Strange one this, but Google’s Pixel updates do have a long history of fixing a bunch of stuff and then breaking something new.
