IFA 2025 has once again turned Berlin into the ultimate playground for tech enthusiasts, with brands pulling out all the stops to showcase their latest innovations. From ultra-lightweight laptops that defy physics, to robot vacuums clever enough to climb stairs, this year’s show has delivered some genuinely jaw-dropping moments. Our coverage this year is powered by Acer, who also announced some big things this week. We’ve spent countless hours wandering the halls of Messe Berlin, getting hands-on with the most promising gadgets and gizmos, so whether you’re after a projector that’ll transform your living room into a cinema, or a turntable…
Google has announced a pretty major upgrade to the convenience of the translation built into Circle to Search on Android, which will now continue translating as the content on-screen changes.Google has slightly undersold the feature with the name “Scroll and translate.” In fact, it will now continue to translate as you swipe through screens, scroll down pages, or even switch apps entirely, saving you from triggering a new translation every time new text appears.Google says the update is rolling out across Android from this week, starting with select Samsung Galaxy phones. People often talk about drones offering a bird’s-eye view on the world, but not all birds see in the same way. Most drones are like owls, with their ‘eyes’ attached to a gimbal that rotates to take in their surroundings, but the Antigravity A1 is more like a woodcock – a long-billed wading bird whose eyes are so far apart it’s almost got 360° vision. But that shouldn’t be a surprise when you realise it’s the first drone from popular action cam vendor Insta360 who says the drone was “incubated by Insta360 in collaboration with third parties” who seem to…
Lenovo’s Smart Motion Concept laptop stand, announced at IFA 2025, automatically raises and lowers itself and turns and tilts to position your laptop at an ergonomic eye level. It’s a lot like an amped-up Apple Center Stage webcam, but the whole laptop adapts to you and your posture. That’s basically what it felt like when it was demoed for me at a recent preview event, where it tracked me side to side and up and down around a table. In another demo, it did a “dance” where it ran through its full range of motion to some cheesy music. (More Elaine…
Timekettle has announced a new pair of real-time translation headphones called the W4 AI Interpreter Earbuds. They use bone conduction technology that helps improve accuracy in loud environments.Available now for $349 in navy blue and sandy gold color options, the earbuds are a more affordable alternative to the company’s $449 over-the-ear W4 Pro released earlier this year that looked like the clunky Bluetooth headsets that were popular a few decades ago. Timekettle says its new W4 AI are instead “optimized for casual use” with a design that looks more like modern wireless earbuds, but with a much larger stem. The reason…
Plenty of autonomous lawnmowers have been showcased or introduced at this year’s IFA event in Berlin, but only one of them comes equipped with a robotic arm. NexLawn, a sub-brand of MOVA that sits under its Dreame parent company, has announced the Master X Series Concept, which it describes as “the first robotic mower with a fully functional mechanical arm.”That arm is designed to help reduce the amount of manual maintenance that’s required for people who own and run robot lawnmowers, such as picking up any fallen sticks or debris that could damage the bot or force it to navigate…
I’ve tested far too many robot vacuums. Far too many. And as much as I love the machines, mopping often leaves something to be desired. When I’ve tested robot vacs, they’ve often struggled to mop up stains on hard floors. Which is why the Narwal Flow caught my eye. The Flow comes kitted out with something called the FlowWash Mopping System – a track-based mopping setup that keeps clean water flowing as it goes. It’s designed to make sure your floors end up squeaky clean. And if it works as well as it should, I think it could be the best mopping…
Breaking into Europe’s crowded home appliance market isn’t for the faint-hearted. As Neil Tunstall, CEO of Haier Europe, told me after launching the next generation of home appliances at IFA 2025. The sector is brutally capital-intensive, product life cycles are shrinking, and consumers are more cautious than ever with their spending. If you want to compete at scale, you have to spend big and think bigger. “Life cycles are shortening. If you don’t invest, you quickly become uncompetitive,” Tunstall said. “It’s like the car industry — unless you’re a niche cooking brand, you can’t really survive without size and scale.”…
We’re all used to having our lights respond to verbal commands at this point. But normally, there’s a middleman passing our commands along, whether that’s our phone or a smart speaker that is actually listening to what we say. Lepro is eliminating the need for a separate controller by building a microphone directly into the power cord on its new AI Lighting Pro series. The lineup includes a light strip (S1-Pro AI), a rope light (N1-Pro AI), a rail-thin floor lamp (OE1-Pro AI), and a wild-looking table lamp (TB1-Pro AI). The S1 is a pretty standard light strip, while the N1…
The new Horizon 20 lineup of 4K Google TV projectors from Xgimi targets gamers who want to play day and night on the biggest screen possible. In addition to promising an incredibly bright image from the flagship model, Xgimi is at IFA 2025 saying the entire lineup supports low-latency gaming with an input lag of just 1ms — that’s very responsive for a projector that will likely be able to produce a large image in rooms where you can’t control the ambient lighting. The Horizon 20 lineup — comprised of the base Horizon 20 model, the 20 Pro, and 20 Max…
It’s no secret that Microsoft has been struggling to sell its Copilot AI assistant to businesses. The steep pricing has put many businesses off paying extra for Microsoft’s AI services, especially when OpenAI’s ChatGPT has been gaining traction in the all-important enterprise market. Microsoft is now getting ready to tempt more businesses into paying for Copilot, with a familiar trick: bundling.Microsoft currently offers business Copilot access for $30 per user per month, and if you want the extra Copilot for Sales, Service, and Finance options, these have been a standalone extra $20 per user. Sources familiar with Microsoft’s AI plans…
The Withings ScanWatch 2 is one of our favourite smartwatches. When we got hands-on time with the watch we said “The ScanWatch 2 takes everything that made the original ScanWatch a success, and adds another capability to its roster.” That new capability being temperature sensing. And the latest version brings two big upgrades that make it even better. Rather confusingly, it’s still called the ScanWatch 2. Not the ScanWatch 2 SE or the third-generation, just an iteration to the second. It’s sure to confuse some users. Still, the extra battery life and deeper insights make it a pretty sizeable update…
