Google has updated its popular Gboard keyboard for Android smartphones and there’s one change in particular that’ll ruffle some features. The latest update to the keyboard, that’s also available as a third-party option for iPhone, gives users the often to hide the full-stop (or period, to our American readers) and the comma (also the comma to our American readers) from the keyboard entirely. The full-stop. While, that’s understandable. A double-tap gesture on the space bar still pops a dot at the end of the word. However, jettisoning the majestic comma? That gentle pause that almost bows its head in taking…
iPhone’s iOS 26.1 free update is coming, here are all the excellent new features your phone will get
This year’s major iPhone update is iOS 26, with the new Liquid Glass design the biggest change of them all. As with all updates, Apple releases subsequent versions to squash bugs and improve things. Enter iOS 26.1, the first major follow-up to iOS 26. The update is currently in beta testing, with its biggest new addition being the option to adjust just how glassy Liquid Glass gets. Apple is also fixing the alarm screen and bringing back the popular Slide Over multitasking feature for tablet users. iOS 26.1 and its iPad offshoot are expected within the next couple of weeks, once beta…
Reddit is suing Perplexity and three “data-scraping service providers” to “stop the industrial-scale, unlawful circumvention of data protections by a group of bad actors who will stop at nothing to get their hands on valuable copyrighted content on Reddit,” according to the complaint. The company equates the data scraping companies — SerpApi, Oxylabs, and AWMProxy — to “would-be bank robbers” who “knowing they cannot get into the bank vault, break into the armored truck carrying the cash instead.” Reddit alleges that Perplexity is a customer of “at least one” of the data scraping companies, saying that it “will apparently do anything…
Good news, Strava’s short-lived legal battle with Garmin is officially over! The run tracking app has voluntarily withdrawn its lawsuit against Garmin, meaning that the integration between the two platforms isn’t going anywhere. For those who records their rides or runs with a Garmin device before syncing to Strava, this marks the end of a very unnecessary panic. The lawsuit accused Garmin of infringing on two Strava patents – one relating to heatmaps and another to segments. Strava claimed the dispute stemmed from new Garmin developer rules requiring any data originating from a Garmin device to carry Garmin branding. At…
It’s called the Icemag 3, and it’s a 39.1Wh battery (10,000mAh, if you must) with a built-in 25W Qi 2.2 magnetic wireless charger, a 35W USB-C cable built into its fabric lanyard, optional RGB lighting, an active fan for cooling, and an extra USB-C port for passthrough charging, too.If you’ll recall, those classic Sony point-and-shoots had a big sliding bar to protect their lenses — one that’d also instantly bring the camera to life when you slide it down! The Icemag 3’s aluminum bar doesn’t slide, and it doesn’t protect a camera lens — instead, it’s a fold-out stand, and the…
Are you thinking of turning the thermostat up? The cooler months are most definitely here and maybe, if you haven’t already, it’s time to finally upgrade to a smart thermostat. But in a crowded field, which is the best smart thermostat out there right now? There are lots of reasons to upgrade your heating tech. Firstly, many of them let you talk to your heating via voice assistants like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri, but the main benefit is saving you cash and cutting down on wasted energy. Thanks to tech like geofencing and smart radiator valves, they can help your…
If you’re looking to play games like Ghost of Yōtei or Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, you’re going to need a PlayStation 5. Luckily, right now, you can grab the console for as low as $374 directly through the PlayStation storefront with the code PS5KLARNA — and it doesn’t appear as though you need to use Klarna’s payment service to get the discount. The code works with the PS5 Digital Edition and the PS5 Slim with 1TB of storage, bringing the prices down to $374 and $424.99, respectively. Unfortunately, the code doesn’t work with the PS5 Pro.Sony previously hiked…
Apple TV+ has dropped the + and is now just plain old Apple TV. The reasons seem to be fairly straightforward, most notably that people didn’t seem to mention the + when talking about Apple TV. In other words, everyone just called the streaming service just ‘Apple TV’. In an interview from The Town podcast, Apple executive Eddy Cue said the following: “I just decided – we just decided. Look, we put the plus in there because we’ve used it in our other services like iCloud+ and News+, but we do that when we have a free service and then…
The Android ecosystem is all about choice. While iPhone owners have a smaller pool of new devices to pick from when it’s time to upgrade, there’s a wider range of choices on Android. Some Android phones even fold in half! Imagine. On the flip side, all that choice can make for some hard decisions. Here’s where I’d like to help; I’ve tested a whole boatload of recent Android phones, and I think there are some real winners in the current batch. It’s all a matter of what you’re looking for, what you’re comfortable spending, and what your definition of a “reasonably…

The NFL season is finally here. Whether your favourite team is is struggling or regularly tasting victory, you might still wonder how to catch all the action this year. In the US, television coverage is basically the same as last year, except for a considerable change when it comes to streaming. Starting this season, NFL Sunday Ticket (from $34.50 per month for 8 months) will be available solely on Google’s YouTube TV platform. However, football enthusiasts can still catch the rest of the games on the usual networks, including CBS, NBC, FOX, ESPN, and Amazon Prime Video. It is worth…
