Much of the UK is now in an official heatwave. On Monday, Kew Gardens recorded 34.8C, beating the previous May record by two full degrees. Last night was the hottest May night on record, and my bedroom feels like the inside of a parked car in July. My Dyson Purifying Fan was doing its best. But the noise (the constant low-frequency hum) drives me insane overnight. I couldn’t concentrate at my desk, and I definitely couldn’t sleep. So when the MeacoFan Sefte Pro 10″ showed up, I didn’t have especially high hopes. After all, it’s a fan. A regular, bladed,…
The Nintendo Switch 2 can be enjoyed right out of the box, but it’s even better with the right accessories. Some of these add-ons are more crucial than others, especially if you’re deciding what to buy early on. For example, a case and a screen protector can keep your console safe from scuffs, scratches, and drops, so both are what I’d consider to be essential. If you’re not a fan of how the Joy-Con 2 feel to use, a cheap but good wireless controller wouldn’t hurt, either. On the other hand, a microSD Express card lets you add even more digital…
Qualcomm has only just pulled back the curtain on Snapdragon C, its new wallet-friendly chip lineup aimed at bringing Windows laptops to a low enough price to challenge the combined might of Google’s Chromebooks and the Apple MacBook Neo – but now we’ve got an official first look at a laptop you’ll actually be able to head out and buy, courtesy of Acer. The Aspire Go 15, revealed ahead of next week’s Computex trade show in Taiwan, will launch later this year with a bunch of different variants. All should be rather appealing price-wise, though exact figures are still unknown…
I’ve driven a fair few luxury vehicles over my time as a journalist, and I’ve watched the transition from big V12 and W12 engines to more efficient hybrid and electric powertrains. It’s a trend some traditional petrolhead keyboard warriors bemoan, but after living with the new hybrid Bentley Flying Spur for a week, I’m fully on board. Pull away from a standstill in near-total silence, gliding through little villages on electric power alone, then drive 900 miles to the South of France without stopping – it’s the epitome of luxury. Bentley calls the fourth-generation Flying Spur its first four-door supercar,…
Summer is here, and outdoor oven brand Gozney has slashed the prices on some of its most popular pizza ovens. This is a deal I wholeheartedly recommend as I reviewed the Gozney Tread last summer, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best products I’ve ever tested. After all, who can resist freshly cooked pizza? If you aspire to become a pizza aficionado and captivate your friends with talks of dough hydration, stone temperature, and leopard crusts, you can save up to $220 / £220 on the Gozney Arc, Arc XL and Tread until 10th June by clicking the…
Xiaomi has announced the 17T and 17T Pro, two cheaper spins on its 17 series flagships. As is usual for the T-series, the focus is more on performance than photography, with the biggest batteries Xiaomi has included on any of its phones outside China yet.The 17T includes a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery, while the 17T Pro goes even bigger with 7,000mAh, which I found to be enough to keep the phone running for up to two days. Xiaomi has included bigger batteries than these on previous China-only phones — the recent 17 Max has an 8,000mAh capacity — but never its…
Oura has announced the Ring 5, and it’s the most significant update the company has ever made. It’s also the smallest smart ring in the world. The headline number is the 40 percent size reduction. At 6.09mm wide and 2.28mm thick, it’s genuinely tiny, and, most importantly, Oura claims it didn’t sacrifice accuracy or battery life to get there. That’s a bold claim indeed. The Ring 5 uses a redesigned sensing architecture with twelve signal pathways, stronger LEDs, and improved sensor domes for better skin contact. Oura says accuracy has actually improved across key metrics like overnight and workout heart…
Temu has been fined €200 million (about $232 million) by the European Commission after it found that consumers are “very likely to encounter illegal items” on the popular Chinese e-commerce platform. According to the commission, Temu breached Digital Service Act (DSA) rules by failing to identify and assess the systemic risks of illegal products being offered on its platform and the resulting harmful impact on its customers. The EU launched its formal DSA investigation against Temu in October 2024, and issued a preliminary ruling in July 2025 that found Temu isn’t doing enough to keep illegal products off its ultra-cheap marketplace.…
Wherever I go, whatever I do, people point at my finger and ask, “Is that an Oura Ring?” Lots of people find they like the design, and they tell me why they’re thinking about switching to a smart ring from a smartwatch. But the people who scrunch up their noses? They usually say something along the lines of, “Hm. Maybe when it’s lighter or smaller.”Good news. The newly announced $399 Oura Ring 5 is both. It’s 40 percent smaller than the Oura Ring 4, measuring 6.09mm wide (down from 7.9mm) and 2.29mm thick (down from 2.88mm). Depending on the size,…
We’re huge fans of the latest and greatest tech here at Stuff. But there’s something about older tech from bygone eras that have a charm that modern glass slabs like smartphones simply can’t match. Take NASA’s Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 probes, for example. Launched back in 1977 (when disco was still alive, and Star Wars had only just landed in cinemas), most modern smartphones would look like alien technology to the engineers who built them. But nearly 50 years later, both spacecraft are somehow still operational. It’s deeply impressive, and increasingly complicated. A new deep-dive report (via Space Daily)…
Introduction The DS No 4 has been around for a few years now, but the good thing about this electric edition is that it looks bang up to date. While buyers can still choose from mild hybrid and plug-in models, the DS No 4 Pallas+ E-Tense comes with an a look and feel that’s very of the moment. However, there are many options in this segment, including the likes of the Peugeot e-308 and Vauxhall Astra Electric – both of which come from the same Stellantis group EMP2 platform conveyor belt. Thankfully, DS has always had quirky design appeal to…
Google Home is rolling out a new Gemini-powered automation feature that can trigger smart home routines based on what your security cameras can see. This is one of several updates announced yesterday for Gemini for Home, including enhanced voice command support and general stability improvements, following its early access launch in October.“We are introducing a brand-new starter that lets you design automations based on visual insights,” Google said in its announcement. “Because your cameras can now actually understand what they see, your smart home can automatically react to almost anything happening around your home.”The feature is currently supported for Nest…
