The incoming CEO of Apple John Ternus has addressed employees, claiming now to be the “most exciting time” to be at the company in his quarter of a century with the tech giant. Ternus’ comments at a private all-hands meeting in Cupertino were reportedly passed along to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

The former project design lead and head of hardware engineering will replace Tim Cook in the big chair on September 1. At the meeting, he reportedly said: “I’m not exaggerating when I say this is the most exciting time to be building products and services at Apple in my entire career.”

He added that AI was a particular avenue for growth, claiming it will unlock “unlimited potential” for Apple. He reportedly said: “We’re going to be able to keep unlocking possibilities that are going to create entirely new opportunities for our products and services, and I’m so excited about what that’s going to mean for our users.”

The incoming CEO also said: “We are about to change the world again.”

Cook was also in attendance during the address at the Steve Jobs Theatre. He assured his colleagues that he is not stepping down for health reasons. He’ll still be the executive chairman for a long time to come.

He’ll also “assist with certain aspects of the company, including engaging with policymakers around the world.”

That probably translates to: “I’ll stick around to deal with Trump.”
