Productivity might be front of mind for most of Stuff’s top tablet picks, but the Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 is all about entertainment during your down time. The 12in Android tablet is literally bulging with a whopping nine-driver speaker system and has a handy built-in kickstand for go-anywhere streaming sessions.

I was a big fan of the original Lenovo Tab Plus, which found room for eight speakers inside a fairly svelte shell – but it wasn’t really much of a looker. This second generation has much more of a lifestyle vibe, with smoother lines and a white colour scheme. The kickstand also feels integral to the design now rather than an afterthought: the 360-degree circular stand can put the tablet in portrait or landscape at any tilt angle, hang from a hook, or be used as a carry handle.

The JBL-tuned speaker system is the main event, with nine separate drivers and Dolby Atmos support. Volume and clarity should be miles better than rival tablets, and the Tab Plus Gen 2 can also be used as a standalone Bluetooth speaker for your other gadgets. Lenovo even has an official carrying sleeve with shoulder strap that can turn it into a boombox that’s more 2026 than 1986.

Up front is a 12.1in, 2.5K resolution LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision and HDR10 support, and a maximum 800 nits high brightness mode aimed at outdoor viewing. It can double as a digital photo frame while in standby mode and the touchscreen layer will play nicely with Lenovo’s active stylus pen. There’s an 8MP webcam built into the bezel and you’ll also find a 13MP snapper at the rear.

A quick look at the spec sheet confirms the Tab Plus Gen 2 sits at the more affordable end of the Android tablet spectrum. Power comes from a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset, along with either 6, 8 or 12GB of RAM and 128 or 256GB of storage. There’s also a microSD card slot for adding extra capacity later down the line.

It lands running Android 16 but only two new OS versions are promised, along with four years of security patches.

Lenovo reckons the 10,200mAh battery has enough juice for as much as 15 hours of YouTube streaming. Charging should be fairly nippy at a maximum 45W over USB-C.

The Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 is launching in the coming months; European buyers can expect to pay €399, while US shoppers will pay $400. A UK launch should follow shortly after.
