Google is finally enabling YouTube TV streaming subscribers to build their own custom multiview set up, years after offering up pre-curated options.
YouTube TV users can now pick any four channels to view on the same screen for the first time since the feature was introduced in 2023. YouTube boosted the offering last year to non-sports content, but the full freedom to choose was the feature most in demand from long-time subscribers hoping to keep up with the game and some breaking news at the same time.
Now YouTube TV can match the likes of fuboTV, which has long offered the option to choose any channel to form the Back to The Future II-style multiview feature. Interestingly the feature also includes add-ons users have added to their package, such as the NFL Sunday Ticket options that YouTube TV has the rights too. Four different NFL streams on the same TV? Yes please.
The feature is also compatible with the new Genre Packs that YouTube TV recently began offering. The only omission is select family friendly content, according to a YouTube spokesperson speaking to Variety.
“Today, we’re officially launching fully customisable multiview on @YouTubeTV,” YouTube CEO Neal Mohan said in a post on X.
“Our @youtube teams made one of our most popular features even better. The new multiview builder gives you full control to mix and match live streams (including add-ons like @nfl Sunday Ticket), and build the personalised viewing experience you’ve been asking for.”
