Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone Ultra might not be having the smoothest journey behind the scenes. According to a new supply chain leak, the company is reportedly running into production issues ahead of the device’s expected launch next year. The latest claims come from Weibo leaker Fixed Focus Digital, who says that Apple is reportedly struggling to improve manufacturing yields during the foldable iPhone’s pre-assembly process. More specifically, the issue is apparently linked to something called surface-mount technology (SMT) – the stage where electronic components get attached to circuit boards during production. That probably sounds deeply unexciting unless you work in…

Ferrari has officially revealed the Luce – the legendary automaker’s first ever fully electric car, and arguably one of the boldest design swings it’s taken in decades –the five-seat EV was co-designed with LoveFrom, the creative collective founded by former Apple design chief and iPhone designer Sir Jony Ive, and fellow designer Marc Newson. If the smooth curves, minimalist surfaces, and obsessively tactile interior controls look a little more Apple-esque than a traditional supercar, that’s probably why. Ferrari says that the Luce combines clarity and refined simplicity across its exterior, cabin, and interface. Translation: fewer aggressive vents, fewer cluttered surfaces,…

Code in recent Starlink firmware suggests that SpaceX might soon release a version of its smallest internet dish with an integrated battery. A battery-powered Starlink Mini would offer untethered portability for vanlifers, emergency responders, and anyone who wants fast, low-latency internet from almost anywhere on the planet.University researcher Jinwei Zhao spotted a number of strings hinting at the integrated battery in a May firmware release, according to PCMag. The “message DishBatteryStats” line suggests code designed to return specific fields from an integrated battery, including the current state_of_charge. If the dish were simply being plugged into an external, third-party power bank,…

Not got the funds to stretch to a pair of Sony’s latest cans? The new Sennheiser Momentum 5 Wireless are much gentler on the wallet but still look like they could challenge for a place on our list of the best noise-cancelling headphones. Admittedly $399.99 / £329.90 for the Momentum 5 Wireless still isn’t pocket change, but there’s plenty here to suggest they could go head-to-head with the best. Snapdragon Sound means you get hi-res audio via aptX Lossless, which should let you make the most of the 42mm transducers inside each of the earcups. Sennheiser says they’ve been tuned…

Nearly four years after the last version of Sennheiser’s Momentum headphones debuted with a redesign that traded a retro aesthetic for a more contemporary and comfortable design, the company has announced its Momentum 5 Wireless headphones. It’s not often that Nintendo launches a new console without a new mainline Mario Bros. platform game coming quick sharpish thereafter. However, over a year after the Switch 2 console was announced, fans of the eponymous sibling plumbers continue to wait for the follow up to 2016’s Super Mario Odyssey. An exceptionally weird controversy has come back to haunt Cox Media and a pair of marketing firms, which claimed they were secretly listening to users via phones and smart devices — despite little evidence they actually could. On Thursday the Federal Trade Commission announced that Cox, MindSift, and 1010 Digital Works would pay a total of $930,000 to settle allegations that they were in fact lying about spying on people to target ads.As chronicled by Techdirt a couple of years ago, Cox publicly boasted about a system called Voice Data back in 2023, telling potential digital marketing clients they could…

Apple is reportedly planning to open up to casting technologies beyond AirPlay as native options for iOS 27. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is responding to the latest interoperability regulations from the European Union that could require the company to welcome over streaming protocols into the fold. That could mean users will be able to select Google Cast, for example, as their preferred casting solution, rather than simply offering AirPlay. This would be similar to Apple offering options to choose default apps for navigation and web browsing where you can choose the default in the settings. While Apple has…

Trump Mobile has confirmed that personal data of those who pre-ordered the controversial smartphone has been exposed online. Oops. According to reports from TechCrunch, the exposed information included names, mailing addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, and order identifiers. The company says it’s now investigating the issue with the help of independent cybersecurity professionals. Trump Mobile spokesperson Chris Walker told TechCrunch that the exposure was linked to a third-party platform provider supporting “certain Trump Mobile operations”, rather than a direct breach of Trump Mobile’s own systems. Trump Mobile also claimed that there’s currently no evidence that payment card details, banking information,…
