Here we go again. As sure as Mickey Mouse has large ears and a loyal dog named Pluto, Disney has announced price increases for Disney+ and Hulu. For the sixth time in six years, the streaming services are going to cost more in the United States.
Disney+ with no ads is going up to $21.50 per month as a standalone subscription. Same goes for Hulu. That’s a 13% increase on the current asking fee. If you pay another fifty cents you’ll be able to get Disney+ and Hulu for ad-free £22. That’s still a $2 increase on the current price for the bundle.
It’s a similar story for the ad-supported tiers. Both Disney+ and Hulu are going up to $12.50 a month standalone, while you’ll pay $13 for the two. It really makes no sense to subscribe to just one.
The new prices go into effect immediately. Current subscribers will see it on their next bill or after October 21.
Disney last increased prices on this very day in September last year. Also on August 24 in 2024. And on August 9 2023. In December 2022, Disney+ premium tier went up to $11 a month. That itself was a $3 increase on the previous price. From $8 in 2022 to $21.50 in 2026. That’s quite the price hike.
Disney+ is still cheaper than Netflix’ most premium tier which includes no ads and 4K streaming for $27 a month. Neither are offering very good value.
