If Hamilton had an IMDB page it would be big enough to rival Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson or Zendaya (who seems to be in literally every movie released this year).
Since Marlene Dietrich glanced at a hidden photo inside a Hamilton watch case in 1932’s Shanghai Express, the Lancaster, Pennsylvania-born brand (now proudly Swiss-owned) has clocked up appearances in more than 500 movies, TV shows and, more recently, video games.
Nobody else comes close to the “watchmaker of filmmakers” tag, and with 14 standout appearances below, it’s easy to see why.
1. Interstellar

If you asked most watch fans to name a single Hamilton film watch, Interstellar is the one that most would say first. It started as a custom prop created for Christopher Nolan’s 2014 masterpiece and was the emotional hinge of the entire plot – a watch passed between father and daughter that ends up carrying a message across galaxies and years.
Hamilton didn’t rush to cash in either – it took five years before the production piece became a proper retail model, the 42mm Khaki Field Murph, followed by a 38mm version in 2022 for smaller wrists.
It’s become the textbook example of how a prop watch can outlive its film and become a genuine bestseller in its own right.
2. Blue Hawaii

Nothing on this list has done more heavy lifting for Hamilton’s cinematic reputation than the Ventura strapped to Elvis’s wrist in 1961.
It was already an oddity when it launched in 1957 – the world’s first battery-powered electric watch, with an unusual case shape – but having the King of Rock and Roll wear one in a hit musical comedy cemented it as a genuine cultural icon.
The Ventura has been reissued and reinterpreted more than any other Hamilton design since, from futuristic skeleton designs to elegant Quartz models, but every version still nods back to the original.
3. Disclosure Day

Spielberg’s sci-fi thriller is the newest movie on this list, and Hamilton features on the wrist of not one, but two characters.
Josh O’Connor’s Dr. Daniel Kellner gets the Khaki Field Mechanical – a no-nonsense, hand-wound field watch in black PVD. It’s down to earth and purposeful. His counterpart Noah Scanlon, gets the Jazzmaster Open Heart, with its visible movement, which, according to the press release, mirrors someone who understands how systems work from the inside out. It’s clever from the costume-department.
Both pieces are current-collection Hamiltons rather than custom props made specifically for the film.
4. Tenet and The Martian

Hamilton’s super-tough BeLOWZERO has featured in two massive movies. A standard-issue Khaki Navy BeLOWZERO is seen on Matt Damon’s wrist as stranded astronaut Mark Watney in The Martian, timing his fight to survive on Mars.
For Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, Hamilton’s engineers spent 18 months at the Swatch Group’s Swiss lab building ‘inverted-time technology’ into the dial of the Khaki Navy BeLOWZERO, with watchmakers on set to help operate its unusual functions.
The watch has a really distinctive, rugged design and 1000m water resistance rating, so it’s perfect for these action films.
5. James Bond Live and Let Die

Yes, believe it or not, long before Omega became synonymous with James Bond’s watch brand of choice, Roger Moore’s 007 gave the LED-display Pulsar a moment in the spotlight.
It was the first all-electronic digital watch ever made, originally launched in solid gold for $2100 in 1972, back when that would have bought you a car. The original screen-worn watch sold at a Phillips auction for 365,000 Swiss francs in 2015.
Hamilton has since revived the design twice as the modern PSR.
6. 2001: A Space Odyssey

Stanley Kubrick approached Hamilton in 1966 during the filming of 2001: A Space Odyssey, wanting a watch that looked like it belonged to the future. Engineer John Bergey delivered a genuinely strange, multi-display cuff-style watch that appears on Gary Lockwood’s wrist for a matter of seconds in the finished film.
Hamilton never sold that exact prop, releasing the more conventional wedge-cased Odyssee 2001 instead when the film hit cinemas in 1968. Decades later, in 2006, it went back to the original sketch for a proper 40th-anniversary tribute, the titanium X-01, limited to 2001 pieces.
The work Bergey did following Kubrick’s brief for a “future watch” fed directly into the brand’s development of the Pulsar, the world’s first digital watch a few years later.
7. Ocean’s Eleven
Watch: Hamilton Linwood Viewmatic
Worn by: George Clooney as Danny Ocean
Not every Hamilton film moment needs an explosion or a spaceship – sometimes it’s just a very well-dressed man planning a very elaborate heist. George Clooney’s Danny Ocean wears the Linwood Viewmatic in Ocean’s Eleven, a polished steel automatic on a black crocodile strap, as his ‘everyday’ watch throughout the movie.
He swaps to a black Luminox during the actual job itself, which is a nice little detail for watch nerds. Danny would go on to wear other watches in the sequels, probably stolen ones.
8. Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny
Watches: Hamilton Boulton and Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba
Worn by: Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) and Renaldo (Antonio Banderas)
Sure, the fedora and the whip get all the attention, but Hamilton also earned its place in Indy’s kit for the archaeologist’s final outing in 2023.
The Boulton is a cushion-cased Art Deco design dating back to the 1940s, and has been part of Hamilton’s American Classic line for decades. It looks great, with its serif numerals and small seconds subdial.
Hamilton worked with the film’s props team to make sure the watch matched the period detail of Joanna Johnston’s costumes down to the last stitch.
Indy’s diving companion Renaldo, played by Antonio Banderas, gets the tougher, more contemporary Khaki Navy Scuba.
9. Men in Black
Watch: Hamilton Ventura
Worn by: Agent J (Will Smith), Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) and Agent M (Tessa Thompson)
We already talked about the Ventura and Elvis, but the unusual watch also been strapped to the wrists of the universe’s finest alien hunters in 1997. Its triangular, asymmetric case looks extraterrestrial, which is exactly why it fit so naturally into the film.
Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones both wore it in the original, and it’s stuck around for all three sequels since, most recently on Tessa Thompson’s Agent M in Men in Black: International.
10. Oppenheimer
Watches: Hamilton Cushion B, Lexington and Endicott, Lady Hamilton A-2, Piping Rock, and Military Ordnance
Worn by: J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy), Kitty Oppenheimer (Emily Blunt) and Lieutenant General Leslie Groves, Jr. (Matt Damon)
Rather than custom pieces, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer got six vintage watches, all sourced from private collectors. It really helps nail the period accuracy of the 1930s and 1940s.
Cillian Murphy’s Oppenheimer wears three different watches across the film, the Cushion B, Lexington and Endicott, each exemplifying the Art Deco design of early American watches. Emily Blunt’s Kitty gets the far more ornate 14k gold Lady Hamilton A-2, while Matt Damon’s Groves is fitted with rugged, military-grade Piping Rock and Military Ordnance watches.
11. The Talented Mr. Ripley

Worn by: Matt Damon as Tom Ripley
A rectangular Hamilton Ardmore appears on Matt Damon’s wrist as Tom Ripley assumes the identity, wardrobe and, eventually, life of Jude Law’s Dickie Greenleaf (spoiler alert), and its old-money elegance is exactly the kind of detail a con artist would look for.
It’s a subtler appearance than most of the other watches on this list – but that’s rather the point. Anthony Minghella’s film is obsessed with the objects people use to perform class and identity, and this watch fits that brief perfectly.
12. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach

Hamilton’s move into gaming has been super impressive. First came a Far Cry 6 tie-in in 2021, then a genuinely strange, titanium-cased Boulton reinvention for Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. It’s worn in-game and built around a technical, multi-crystal case unlike anything else in Hamilton’s catalogue.
Capcom followed with pieces for Resident Evil Requiem: a Khaki Field Auto Chrono for Leon S. Kennedy, its crown modelled on a sniper scope, and a “gold and noir” Pan Europ for FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft.
Most recently, a Khaki Field Auto 38mm turned up on operator Axel Vermaak’s wrist in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
As Hideo Kojima himself pointed out when the Death Stranding 2 watch launched, it’s a fitting evolution: Kubrick brought Hamilton into science fiction cinema with 2001: A Space Odyssey, and now it’s doing the same with video games.
13. Dune: Part Two
Watch: The “Desert Watch” (custom prop) and Ventura Dune limited editions

Denis Villeneuve didn’t want a watch per se for Dune: Part Two – he wanted a wrist device for the Fremen. Hamilton and the film’s prop master, Doug Harlocker, developed the “Desert Watch” without any brief on what the thing was actually meant to do, working instead from Frank Herbert’s novel and Villeneuve’s own vision of Arrakis.
The result, worn by Javier Bardem’s Stilgar and his fellow Fremen, certainly looks very futuristic (yet, also weirdly archaic).
Hamilton translated its blue-eyed, sand-worn spirit into two real limited editions available to buy: the Ventura XXL Bright, with a button that lights up in blue, and the angular, digital-display Ventura Edge.
14. The Avengers and Avengers: Endgame
Watches: Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium Auto and Khaki Field Auto and Hamilton Jazzmaster GMT
Worn by: Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans) and Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau)
It turns out even billionaires and super-soldiers wear Hamilton watches. Tony Stark wears a 42mm Khaki Field Titanium Auto in 2012’s The Avengers.
Chris Evans’s Captain America gets a matching stainless steel Khaki Field Auto, though his appearance ended up cut down to a deleted scene.
By the time Avengers: Endgame rolled around in 2019, it was Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan carrying the Hamilton torch, this time in the shape of a two-time-zone Jazzmaster GMT.
Bonus: The Odyssey

Every watch on this list earned its place by appearing on screen, but this one breaks the rule entirely. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is set roughly 1200 BC, a few thousand years before the wristwatch was invented, so instead of a prop, Hamilton and Nolan built a tribute piece to sit alongside the film’s release.
The 42mm case swaps Hamilton’s usual steel or titanium for solid bronze, a material chosen to echo the armour and weaponry in the film. The dial takes its cues from Odysseus’s helmet and sword, right down to a 12 o’clock index modelled on a scabbard rivet.
Production is capped at 2112 pieces and each one arrives with a wearable replica of Athena’s pin.
