Google has revealed a significant quintet of features coming as part of its September 2026 Android feature drop for smartphones, including a new Gemini feature that’ll help ensure you never lose an important item again.
In a post on the Google blog, the company said users could now ask Gemini to remember where they placed an important item, at the time they place it there. Google says it’s designed for items you wouldn’t normally bestow with a tracker tag. Those items will appear in a new ‘remembered items’ tab.
In a blog post, Google said: “For things you don’t put a tracker tag on, like your passport or a spare key, say something like, “Hey Google, remember in Find Hub that I put my passport in my bedroom drawer,” and add an optional photo. When you need to find it, just ask Gemini for its location or check your remembered items tab in Find Hub.” This seems like something I would absolutely use, if I can get into the habit of doing so.
Next up is the Motion Assist tool we covered last month, which promises to allay the effects of motion sickness by adding an overlay to the display that moves along with the vehicle. Furthermore, Google is now adding the Guided Vision tool to Gemini Live. It requires users to share their camera with Gemini Live to hear audio descriptions of what’s around them.
Google says it “can help with things like reading fine print on a food label, ordering from a menu in a low-lit restaurant, or identifying household objects.”
Two other features Google is adding this week is the the ability to share Google Keep notes into Google Messages and custom chat themes in Google Messages to liven up the conversation.
