Honor has given the world a first glimpse of its upcoming Magic9 Pro Max at Venice Film Festival, which is rather appropriate considering the camera appears to be a priority here.
Honor hasn’t revealed any spec info for the new phone yet, but the first images shared with Stuff show off a gigantic camera module that includes three lenses and is inscribed with the name Arri – a German company that has been making movie cameras, lenses and other cinema-related gear for over a century.
Arri’s ‘three-lens turret’ design from 1937 (seen on the left in the image below) is the inspiration behind the module on the Magic9 Pro Max, although presumably the tech used in the phone is a little more up-to-date. Honor is yet to share any specific details on the lenses or sensors.
The handset itself is pretty iPhone-esque, which is appropriate given Apple unveiled its new devices for 2026 and beyond just yesterday, and will be available in a pretty natty ‘Moss Green’ colour. It’s a pretty significant departure from last year’s Honor Magic 8 Pro, which featured a large circular camera module on the back.
Honor and Arri first announced they were working together back in March this year, with the slightly bonkers, China-only Robot Phone the first product of the collaboration. The Magic9 Pro Max is certainly a more mainstream offering, but we’re still excited to find out more about it in the lead up to its proper launch.
The full unveiling is due to take place on 28 September, and while it’ll only be available in China at first, Honor has promised us news on a UK launch in the future. Watch this space for more news as we get it.
