I can’t believe how comfortable and effective this £170 LED mask is!

I’m a fan of LED masks. I’ve been using them for two years and feel my skin has improved so much – I very rarely get spots and my complexion is better than it was. At 44 years old with no botox, fillers etc., I feel the therapy is doing a good job of combating pesky wrinkles and promoting collagen production (but I do also take supplements for this). I was converted via the excellent Therabody TheraFace Mask, which even faded a scar I had under my eye, in just a few weeks. I’ve mainly used the Shark CryoGlow Mask though, which I love for its hands free design and palatable £300 price-point, as well as its excellent results. What I hadn’t tried though was a soft LED mask, so when I saw the Renpho Artemis Rejuven LED Light Soft Mask was £170, I thought I’d give it a try, as I genuinely love it when more people can benefit from new technology.

Design & usability

The Renpho Artemis Rejuven LED Light Soft Mask has a good amount of LED light diodes – 324 to be precise and is named after Artemis, the Greek goddess of the moon, no less. It is scary looking, but then, all of the LED masks I’ve seen are. It’s made from a lightweight silicone, features detachable eye cups, also in silicone. It has a wraparound design with velcro that fastens at the back of your head and also under your chin.

The mask is incredibly comfortable to wear. Given that it is both soft and adjustable I felt it contoured to my face shape well and that I was getting an even treatment. The eye shields are also comfortable, stayed in place and protected my eyes. I really like that the shape of the mask means your under chin area and onto your neck benefits from the LED treatment too. I don’t like that the strap is white fabric though as while comfortable it can start to look grubby quickly.

The mask charges via USB into its handheld control unit and takes about two and half hours to get a full charge, which would last me five ten minute sessions. The controller is easy to use and feels well made, my only gripe being that the simple addition of a clip on the back, similar to the one on the Shark CryoGlow would make using it so much easier, hands free. Instead I’ve been tucking it into my bra and getting on with life – a niggle rather than a reason not to buy.

LED Therapy

The Artemis Rejuven LED has three light mode settings: red light plus near-infrared light, blue light plus near-infrared light and blue, red and near-infrared light. There are five intensity settings, assessed by the power button, which is great if you’re new to LED masks as you can ease yourself in. There’s also a timer button, where you can choose between 10, 20 and 30 minute sessions.

The red and near-infrared light setting is designed for anti aging – promoting collagen production, reducing fine lines and sagging and improving skin density which can be an issue as we age. For those with spots, acne and similar skin conditions the blue light and near-infrared light setting works to purify the skin surface, getting rid of acne causing bacteria and calming inflammation. The third setting, which uses blue, red and near-infrared light, basically covers both bases of the other settings.

Results to match the Shark CryoGlow

It’s always tricky to say if tech like this works because there are so many constantly changing factors to consider, but I definitely feel that the Renpho Rejuven LED Light Soft Mask has definitely continued the good work that was being done by the Shark CryoGlow. I’ve used the mask on the setting which uses blue, red and near-infrared light to get all the benefits, at the highest intensity, for ten minutes per session for two months. Due to the design of the Renpho mask, the skin under my chin and on to my neck now feels tighter and I’ve noticed my under eye area looks more refreshed, too.
