If you’re not getting enough use out of your action camera, why not turn it into a retro-styled point and shoot snapper? That’s the pitch from Insta360, which has just announced the accessory for the Insta360 Go 3S that adds a magnetic sleeve that doubles up as a top-down viewfinder with a handily-placed shutter button. The viewfinder also includes a built-in selfie mirror to facilitate those self portraits.
The lightweight (39g) GO 3S Retro Viewfinder can be purchased separately for $48/£46 or as part of a $300/£259 bundle and promises ‘old-school framing reimagined.’ and ‘classic waist level viewfinders’.
The new accessory comes with two NFC Custom skins that means you can quickly pair your phone to adjust the shooting settings via the Insta360 mobile app. There are also five vintage-inspired fixtures to tie in with the retro vibe. It’s also fully compatible with the GO 3S battery pack that offers extended shooting time and 76 minutes of continuous recording – double the amount of time.
You’ll be able to choose from two colours, Canvas White and Classic Red, both with retro themes. However, the Polaroid-styled option ticks all the boxes. Both options come with a strap so you can merrily hang it around your neck and shoot when the moment strikes. They’ve obviously gone over well with the target audience as the red option is out of stock, while the white is still available.
