iOS 27 could completely change how you use Siri on your iPhone. Here’s how

Apple’s September iPhone 18 event will give us plenty of tech fodder to update our guides (like the best smartphones). But hardware aside, the latest rumours point to iOS 27 having some features worth getting excited about, particularly when it comes to Siri.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s WWDC 2026 teaser graphic strongly hints at a revamped Siri interface coming in iOS 27. The clue sits in the glowing “26”, which Gurman says reflects a new visual style Apple is preparing for Siri.

The key change is that Siri is expected to appear directly within the iPhone’s Dynamic Island cut-out. Instead of taking over the whole screen, triggering the assistant would instead show a “Search or Ask” prompt inside the cut-out, alongside a glowing cursor. There’s also said to be a thin glow around the edges of the Dynamic Island when Siri is active.

Elsewhere, iOS 27 is also expected to introduce a dedicated Siri app. Gurman has previously reported that this will support more natural back-and-forth conversations, as well as letting you view your conversation history.

Not everyone will get the full experience, though. While the Dynamic Island is available on iPhone 14 Pro and newer models, some of these new Siri features are likely to be limited to the iPhone 15 Pro and later, due to Apple Intelligence requirements.

It also ties into other rumoured Dynamic Island tweaks – Apple’s engineers are apparently experimenting with shrinking the cut-out in future iPhones by moving more Face ID components under the display. If that happens, this new Siri interface would need to adapt to a smaller, less intrusive version of the feature.

We won’t have to wait long to see how much of this holds up. Apple has confirmed that WWDC 2026 runs from 8 June to 12 June, where iOS 27 – along with updates across its other platforms – is expected to be officially unveiled. As for the iPhone 18 series, we’ll have to wait until the official reveal in September for the final confirmed details.
