Apple has pulled a couple of features from the initial release of iOS 27, which will take place on Monday September 14. Instead, both will be saved for future software updates within this year’s cycle.
Those hoping to take the new ‘Suggestions in Messages’ and automatic password changes for a spin after downloading iOS 27 (or iPadOS 27 for that matter) will have to wait for now. As spotted by 9to5Mac, Apple has now updated its website to confirm neither will be part of the initial release.
Suggestions in Messages is designed to “help you take quick actions based on context from your conversation” such as add the contents of the message to the Reminders or Notes apps. It’s also coming to the Mail app, where users will be able to “add a calendar event or search for a photo with just a tap,” for example. It appears Suggestions in Mail is still on track for the official launch of iOS 27 on Monday.
Also “coming in a future software update” is the opportunity to “fix passwords with a tap.” When this arrives, iPhone and iPad users will be alerted by the Passwords app when login details are considered weak or have been compromised. The app can “update them on your behalf without the hassle.”
Eagle-eyed Redditors spotted this feature had been removed from the iOS 27 beta this week, so it’s not surprising to see it removed from the initial slate of iOS 27 features too
Users will be getting the brand new Siri AI assistant with personal context available within stock apps and third-party App Store apps. iOS 27 also includes new photo editing capabilities with Apple Intellience, expanded options in the Image Playground, and automatic grouping of tabs in Safari.
The update also brings design refinements to the Liquid Glass UI, faster performance, smoother network transitions and overhauled search in Mail.
