Apple plans to put the iPhone Duo up for pre-order on Friday October 16 and the folding phone is expected to be in very short supply right out of the gate.
However, Apple has today dropped a potential head start for those desperate to be seen with the iPhone Duo at the earliest possible opportunity. An update on the iPhone Duo product page instructs users to “Come back on 10.12 to get ready for pre‑order.”
So from October 12, Apple is enabling users to “Get ready” for the pre-order by making their selections in advance. That includes the colour, storage amount, wireless carrier and your payment method. It’s a method we’ve seen Apple use plenty of times in the past.
Once that’s all set up you’ll be able to ease through the checkout process, when the pre-orders officially open up on October 16 at 8:00am ET in the United States. That’s 1:00pm UK time.
It is thought that Apple has a quite limited number of devices to go around initially so those late to the party may face a delay of weeks or even months to get their device shipped.
Despite prices starting at $1,999/£1,999 Apple is expected to sell out of the iPhone Duo almost instantly. If you don’t arrive at the party early, you might be waiting until 2027 in order to get. on board.
