LG StanbyME 2 Max is a massive tablet you can wheel around the house and we’re seriously tempted

LG has announced the StanbyME 2 Max – a 32-inch, battery powered touchscreen tablet that can be transported around on wheels.

The whopping great tablet on a stick is larger than the 27-inch iteration released previously and is designed for viewing media content via the same webOS software featured on LG’s brilliant televisions. It supports phone mirroring for easy casting of content and there’s also a specific app launcher built for this product.

The display supports up to 4K resolution and 60Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision HDR. The built-in battery can last for 4.5 hours before you’ll need to plug it in via USB C. It’s all powered by LG’s α8 AI Processor Gen3, which will automatically adjust levels based upon the content you’re viewing.

There’s access to 400+ streaming channels and all of the major streaming services too. Thanks to the side firing speakers, there’s also support for Dolby Atmos built-in.

Because you can just wheel it around the place, it’s an ideal screen to accompany your entire day. If you need it for an office companion (there’s also support for video calling) it can be put next to your desk, wheeled into the kitchen to help you follow a recipe, and then brought into the bedroom for a little pre-bedtime Netflix session. It can also be easily detached from the magnetic floor stand for use in other scenarios. There’s also some child-friendly games and artwork activities if you’re into it being covered in mucky fingerprints all the time.

It costs $1,299 and is available to pre-order now from LG.com. UK price and availability to be confirmed.

“First introduced in 2021, LG StanbyME pioneered the “Movable Screen” category by taking viewing experiences beyond the capabilities of stationary displays,” the company says in a media release. “This lineup continues its evolution with the StanbyME 2 Max, which features its largest screen yet and upgraded picture quality for more engaging and convenient user experiences.”
