Trump Mobile has confirmed that personal data of those who pre-ordered the controversial smartphone has been exposed online. Oops.

According to reports from TechCrunch, the exposed information included names, mailing addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, and order identifiers.

The company says it’s now investigating the issue with the help of independent cybersecurity professionals. Trump Mobile spokesperson Chris Walker told TechCrunch that the exposure was linked to a third-party platform provider supporting “certain Trump Mobile operations”, rather than a direct breach of Trump Mobile’s own systems.

Trump Mobile also claimed that there’s currently no evidence that payment card details, banking information, Social Security numbers, or call and text records were exposed.

The issue first gained wider attention after YouTubers Coffeezilla and penguinz0 said they had been contacted by someone claiming to have discovered a vulnerability in the Trump Mobile website. Both creators later said that their own preorder details appeared in the exposed data.

Reports also suggest that the exposed database may provide some indication of preorder numbers for the company’s gold-coloured T1 smartphone, although those figures remain unverified.

The T1 phone has already attracted attention for several changing claims since it was first announced. Trump Mobile initially promoted the handset as being “Made in the USA”, before later adjusting its marketing language to describe the device as being “designed with American values in mind.”

There’s also still some uncertainty around availability. The phone was originally expected to launch in 2025, but widespread customer shipments remain unclear at the time of writing. As for when or if the rollout will reach mainstream levels, your guess is as good as mine…
