Mr Jones Watches has teamed up with Beano to release a limited-edition watch celebrating 75 years of Dennis the Menace. It’s out today, and only 750 will ever be made.
The watch, like all Mr Jones watches, is a joy. It shows Gnasher making a daring sausage heist from Dennis’s sky-high mountain of mash.
Dennis and Gnasher tumble across the dial, launched skyward by a rogue banana skin, with Dennis pointing to the minute and Gnasher, straining after a sausage, pointing to the hours.
The banana ticks away the seconds, and, to keep things legible, the numerals are printed directly onto the glass.
It’s fun, chaotic, and unmistakably Beano.
Mr Jones Watches was founded in 2007 and has grown into the UK’s largest watch manufacturer (apparently even larger than Christopher Ward).
Everything, including the printing and assembly, is done in London. The brand has a flagship store in Covent Garden and a reputation for making watches that are playful rather than purely functional (I’m a big fan on their most popular model, A Perfectly Useless Afternoon). They’re very good at what they do.
Mr Jones founder Crispin Jones called Beano “a true British institution” and said the collaboration had been a genuine joy.
2026 is Beano’s Year of Mischief, marking 75 years since Dennis first appeared in the comic. Beano’s Rob Glenny framed it as celebrating “the 75th time Dennis has turned 10.”
Alistair Audsley, founding CEO of the British Watchmakers’ Alliance, called it “a better showcase of British creativity and sheer fun” than he could think of.
The is available now priced at US$295 / £225. If you want one, don’t hang about, as I can’t imagine 750 pieces will last.
Mr Jones Watches will also host a birthday party for Dennis at their Covent Garden store on Saturday 6th June. Beano illustrator Nigel Parkinson will be there, drawing visitors in his classic comic style.
