If you’ve been following my reporting on the Trump phone, you’ll know that Trump Mobile doesn’t exactly keep open lines of communication with the media. That doesn’t look to be changing, with the company no longer working with its long-term media relations firm.Poplar Group has represented Trump Mobile since at least last June, when the company’s founding partner Chris Walker gave a statement to USA Today, insisting at the time that “T1 phones are proudly being made in America.” That, of course, is not true, which even Trump Mobile now admits.I’ve spoken to Walker a few times, and he offered…
We’ve lost something in the past 15 years. Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Apple; they’ve all convinced us that streaming is the best way to watch movies and shows at home. With everything at our fingertips, there’s no need to run to Blockbuster for the weekend’s entertainment, or wait for a DVD rental to arrive in the mail. And going to the movie theater is a luxury — one that keeps getting more expensive. But we were, all of us, deceived. We traded quality for convenience. And while TVs have improved drastically, we feed them inadequate, bitrate-starved, internet-throttled streams that won’t let our…
The iPhone 18 Pro hasn’t officially arrived yet, but that hasn’t stopped the Apple rumour mill from going wild in the lead up to its expected launch later this year. It’s a lot to keep on top of, which is why we’ve gathered up all the rumours and leaks worth knowing about, served below for your reading pleasure. If you want a short summary – at first glance, the iPhone 18 Pro doesn’t sound like a dramatic redesign. Most reports suggest it’ll look broadly similar to its predecessor, with the same overall shape, screen sizes, and triple-camera setup. Dig a…
Apple’s AI-infused version of Siri is late. Two years late to be exact. It was first trailed alongside broader Apple Intelligence features at Apple’s developer conference in June 2024. But it never appeared, thanks to it just not being good enough. Now, a delay of that magnitude is understandable, provided that it actually works well now. So as soon as the iOS 27 Developer Beta was available, I installed it on a spare iPhone and started using Siri AI. This is what I found and why it actually surprised me quite a bit. Siri AI is in Beta and there…
Introduction Small gimbal-mounted cameras have long been DJI’s territory: the Osmo Pocket series essentially invented the category as we know it. So when Insta360, best known for its Emmy-winning 360-degree cameras and excellent action cams, announced it was taking a run at the segment with the Luna Ultra, eyebrows were raised. Could a newcomer really shake things up? The Luna Ultra costs $770 in the States and £649 in the UK, putting it notably above the entry-level DJI Osmo Pocket 4. A more direct comparison would be DJI’s forthcoming dual-lens Osmo Pocket 4P, which costs costs ¥3,799 in China (roughly…
Your nose twinges. Oh no! It’s unmistakable: you have THE PLAGUE! And dislocated eyebrows! And terrifying condition Amblystic Florpo Flargle-Wargle! (That you definitely didn’t just make up.) Fortunately, help is on hand. No, not at your local medical centre. I’m talking about ChatGPT! Because this is the future, right? So surely you can ask ChatGPT – or another AI chatbot – for health advice? That depends. Mostly on whether your real or imaginary condition has affected your ability to think rationally, or is in fact nanobots taking over the circuitry of your brain, convincing you that asking a probability machine…
Apple has finally revealed a beta version of its generative AI-infused version of Siri, known as Siri AI. Based on my early use of the assistant on a test iPhone, it’s a very positive step for Apple devices and is much needed (and was much delayed). But as well as Apple’s own technology, it uses a custom Google Gemini model for more complex reasoning – for which it is reported to be paying Google around $1bn a year. Firstly, I’ll outline the questions asked, and then I’ve pasted in the responses from Google Gemini and Apple Siri before reaching some…

One messy database is threatening to disenfranchise thousands or even millions of registered voters, while leaving even more at risk of intimidation or data breaches, in the name of solving a problem that barely exists. As the 2026 midterm elections approach, election and privacy experts are sounding alarms about the Department of Homeland Security’s Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) Program, which President Donald Trump’s administration has expanded to ostensibly catch noncitizens voting. Experts say that amounts to a dangerous, error-prone effort to centralize voter data. “The federal government doesn’t have the authority to do any of that and doesn’t have…
The Onion’s InfoWars officially has a launch date: On July 2nd, the conspiracy network previously run by Alex Jones will return as a comedy and media platform. The reboot comes more than a year and a half after news broke that the satirical news site was working to acquire the property owned by Jones, a conspiracy theorist who notably targeted victims of the Sandy Hook school shooting.“Developed with the support of the Sandy Hook families, the new InfoWars is being reimagined as a comedy and cultural platform featuring original programming, guest talent, and new comedic voices,” a press release reads.…
Snap’s new smart glasses are probably the most impressive bit of face-computer technology we’ve seen. They’re not VR-headset huge; they don’t have a big charging puck; thanks to Snap’s many years of AR lens development, they’re likely to have a lot of features right out of the box. (Yes, they’re $2,195, but that may just be what all this tech costs right now.) Snap is clearly at the front of this race. And then… you see the pictures. The pictures of Snap CEO Evan Spiegel wearing the new Specs, as the enormous and heavy stems smash down on his ears. The…
Apple has announced it’ll air the next Formula 1 race on the calendar free for all viewers in the United States, regardless of whether they have a paid Apple TV streaming subscription. The Austrian Grand Prix – which takes place from June 26-28 – will air for free via the Apple TV app across platforms and tv.apple.com website. That means all the practices, qualifying sessions and the race itself. It comes after Apple opened up its exclusive F1 broadcast rights in the United States to Netflix subscribers for the Canadian Grand Prix. Apple also partnered up with IMAX cinemas in…
