The $50 GB Operator is an accessory that lets you connect, play, and authenticate Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance cartridges on PCs and other devices. Now it’s getting some new functionality for the Game Boy Camera. After turning the Game Boy Camera into a charmingly awful desktop webcam two years ago, device-maker Epilogue has just released an iOS/Android mobile app so you can take photos while the Game Boy accessory is connected to your smartphone through the GB Operator. The Game Boy Camera was a terrible camera even by 1998 standards when it was released. It captured…
Apple is reportedly planning a follow up to the 2025 iPhone Air, despite reports of the slimmed down, lightweight smartphone being a rare commercial failure. According to the ever-reliable Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple is planning a second-generation iPhone Air model for the spring of 2027, likely alongside the base iPhone 18 that’s said to be launching as part of a split autumn/spring release schedule. The erstwhile Apple insider’s sources say the company is planning to add a second rear camera to the device, to boost battery life and upgrade the processor to the A20 Pro likely to feature within…
The easiest way to save on a streaming service is often to pay for a year upfront, which HBO Max is currently making a lot cheaper. Through July 15, 2026, new and returning subscribers can get 28 percent off any of HBO Max’s yearly plans, bringing the ad-supported tier down to $78.99 ($31 off) per year, the Standard plan to $132.99 ($52 off) per year, and the Premium tier to $164.99 per year ($65 off). That’s up to 40 percent less than paying month to month. All three plans include access to HBO Max’s extensive library of movies and TV shows,…
Apple has confirmed the inevitable news fans had been dreading – the Cupertino company is not immune to the price hardware increases enforced by the ongoing RAM shortage and it’s likely products from smartphones to laptops will be affected. Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Apple CEO Tim Cook called the increases “unavailable” despite attempting to protect Apple fans from the industry-wide pressures that have seen significant price hikes over the last twelve months. “Unfortunately, price increases are unavoidable,” he said. “We’re doing our best to mitigate the huge increases that are being passed to us, and we’ve been trying…
During a recent expo in Shanghai that focuses on elderly care, assistive devices, and rehabilitation medicine, a Chinese company called Yueban debuted a smart toilet that does something we haven’t seen before; it comes to you. The autonomous self-driving Xiaoban toilet was designed to improve accessibility for those dealing with mobility issues due to age, injuries, or disabilities. It’s expected to sell for ¥28,999 yuan in China, or nearly $4,300, according to IT Home, but global availability hasn’t been confirmed. The Xiaoban toilet uses technology similar to what’s found in the most advanced robot vacuums. A suite of sensors, including lidar…
I launched Firefox this morning to find some new blocks on my home page. The widgets that are currently rolling out add sports scores, time zones, a focus timer, and a checklist, which are already some of my favorite new Firefox features in years. I usually have Focus Friend open on my phone when I need a focus timer, and I use Google Tasks for my checklists. Now I can check in with similar tools every time I open a new Firefox tab instead. My phone’s homescreen is full of useful widgets, so it’s a nice addition to have the timer…
A wild claim is doing the rounds in car circles: that the Ferrari Luce, the brand’s first EV, wasn’t designed by Ferrari at all. It’s an unverified message sent into car podcast C.R.E.A.M (Cars Rule Everything Around Me), allegedly from a former Apple employee. Obviously, this could be someone completely fabricating a tale for attention, so take it with a fairly hefty pinch of salt. The claim goes like this. Apple’s long-rumoured Project Titan car was cancelled in 2024, shifting around 2,000 staff onto Siri AI work in the process. Eddy Cue, Apple’s veteran senior VP, then struck a deal…
When three Amazon software engineers testified earlier this month at Seattle City Council hearings about data centers, they started their testimony by citing a city law barring employment discrimination over political speech. Now, they’re accusing their employer of breaking that law by retaliating against them.On June 10th — one week after the hearing, and one day after the City Council passed a milestone moratorium on data centers — Patrick Schloesser, Darius Irani, and Liesl Wigand were each called into an impromptu meeting with Amazon’s “Employee Relations.” HR representatives told the employees that the company was investigating them and said there…
The We Are Rewind EQ-002 Freddie headphones might look like they’ve been plucked straight from a bygone era, and you’ll need to dress like Run-DMC if you want them to match your outfit, but at least you don’t have to spend a fortune on an original Sony Walkman in order to use them. Bluetooth would’ve been considered some sort of black magic 40 years ago but that’s not a concern in 2026, so you can hook the EQ-002 up wirelessly to your socket-free phone and practice your moves to Walk This Way. Of course, only a complete NPC would be…
Running out of color options for events in Google Calendar shouldn’t be an issue going forward. The previous limit of 11 predefined colors has now been expanded to give users access to up to 200 custom colors for individual events across the native Calendar web and mobile apps, and the Calendar API.This started rolling out yesterday for users on Google’s rapid release domains, with an extended rollout for more users starting on June 29th, though the update may take a few weeks to reach everyone. It’s available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google…
Adobe’s plan to stick AI assistants into all of its Creative Cloud suite is now fully underway, with new chatbots now rolling out to its biggest editing and design apps. As part of a public beta launching today, Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, InDesign, and Frame.io now each have a bespoke AI Assistant that can be used to organize your work and automate app-specific tasks. While the AI assistants are all powered by Adobe’s “conversational creative agent,” they work independently and operate “as a specialist” within each Creative Cloud app, according to Adobe’s announcement. That means the Premiere AI assistant is fine-tuned for…
What do you call a disposable camera that you can reuse? Er, just a camera. Or in the case of this reusable disposable, the Camp Snap 2. While it looks like something you’d send off to Quicky Pix to be developed once you’d fired off your 30-odd photos, the Camp Snap 2 actually takes SD cards for you to fill with its 8MP photos. There’s no screen on the back, though, so you’ll have to frame them the old-fashioned way using the optical viewfinder. So far, so point-and-shoot, but it also has a button that lets you select one of…
