Picking your favourite child is far easier than your favourite watch – especially when, like me, you only have the one – and with a release slate that puts Marvel’s cinematic universe to shame, thinking back to last month, let alone the beginning of the year, is no mean feat. There have been ultra-accessible, value-driven microbrand propositions, high-end, haute horology flexes and everything in-between. The world of watchmaking just does not stop. So, when I say that these are my favourite watches, understand that it’s a malleable list. Ask me at the pub next week and I’ll probably have a…
Wyze announced a new pan-and-tilt security camera today designed for indoor use. The entire Indoor Cam Pan can rotate 360 degrees, while the camera and lens on its front can tilt up and down 103 degrees. When you want privacy, the lens can tilt down until it completely disappears inside the Indoor Cam Pan’s body so it’s unable to see anything happening in your home. The Indoor Cam Pan is available starting today through Wyze’s online store for $39.98. That’s cheaper than Wyze’s $44.98 Cam Pan v3 that’s still available through the company’s website. That older camera can tilt up and…

While the AirPods Pro 4 upgrade expected to include cameras isn’t due until 2027, Apple may still have some new AirPods to show us in the very near future. According to the famed Apple watcher, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman (who very much earns his keep at this time of year) Apple plans to update the standard AirPods in 2026. The current AirPods 4 come in two flavours; the standard edition and the more advanced offering with active noise cancelling (ANC) capabilities. Apple’s last update to non-Pro AirPods came in September 2024, so they’re on track for a refresh. The report from…

Google has finally started to roll out an Android feature that will attempt to remedy the age-old problem of motion sickness. The Motion Assist feature, first spotted in December 2024, is starting to land on Pixel phones, according to a new report. According to Android Authority’s team of sleuths, Motion Assist is starting to show up on homegrown Google Pixel phones running on Android 17, seemingly via a phased rollout. Those who have it can find the feature by browsing to Settings > Your profile > All services and choosing Motion Assist under the personal and device safety section. When…
With the new design of Nothing OS 5.0, app icons and widgets can use adaptive color to get color tints pulled from your wallpaper, which update whenever your wallpaper changes. Alongside Android’s built-in Dynamic Colors, the company says it allows you to have specific elements change to match your wallpaper “while Nothing’s predominantly monochrome character stays underneath.”While I like Nothing’s simplified, monochrome app icons, it’s nice to get an option for adding some limited areas of color to the homescreen. Nothing’s launching it as “an additional theme,” so you can keep using the old design if you like. The Android 17-based…
According to CarNewsChina, the company’s automotive division called “Project Starry Sky” once employed over 1,000 people, but now only a handful legal and HR staffers remain, charged with winding down the operation. In a statement, Dreame said it “recently adjusted certain operations that were in the exploratory phase,” and that going forward, it would focus on four key business areas: “smart home, outdoor/garden, smart mobility, and embodied AI.” (A spokesperson for the company didn’t respond to a request for comment.)The news comes after China’s government issued new rules aimed at tightening oversight of the $3.4 trillion private fund industry, singling…

Instagram is launching a new Reels-editing feature that automatically trims your video clips to focus on the highlights. The feature, called First Draft, is rolling out to Instagram’s iPhone app and provides a “starting point” that you can build upon with other edits, according to an announcement on Tuesday. An example shared by Instagram shows a user selecting multiple clips for a reel and then tapping the “First Draft” button. From there, Instagram analyzes the clips — each of which is more than a minute long — before trimming them down to eliminate pauses and showcase the most important parts. Instagram…
2026 is seeing a pattern of new tech that sees the RAMageddon-affected price hikes without the requisite tech upgrades to help them feel better about paying more. As such, we have a more expensive Sony Xperia 10 VIII mid-range phone to tell you about that doesn’t push the envelope. In fact, unless you look quite closely at the spec sheet, you won’t spot much difference for the extra £150. The display remains 6.1-inch 2340 x 1080 OLED display, but it does get 50% brighter. Behind the screen you’ll find a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 / 8GB of RAM pairing, powered…
I have an eight-year-old and a six-year-old, so you might think I’d have a couple more years’ grace before anyone asks me for a phone (no such luck). I didn’t have one until I was 13, after all, and all it could do was send SMS messages, make calls, and let me play Snake – the internet and social media were not things my mother had to lose sleep over. Before that, the height of childhood connectivity tech was a pager, and the only notifications interrupting playtime at the park were a string of numbers or a ‘call home’ message…
