The most advanced version of Meta’s Ray Ban Smart Glasses are finally going global. The Meta Ray-Ban Display has gone on sale in the UK and Canada today, with major European countries following in the next few weeks.
First launched back in 2025 but solely for a US audience, the Ray-Ban Display is the firm’s first pair of smart glasses equipped with a subtle screen, for giving the wearer visual as well as audible info through the now familiar speakers-in-the-arms arrangement. At the US launch Meta said the UK, Canada and Europe would follow in early 2026; that date came and went, so it’s a case of better late than never.
If you need a refresher, the Meta Ray Ban Display takes the firm’s existing, camera-equipped smart glasses and adds a tiny display tucked just out of your direct line of sight. It blinks in when needed and disappears when it’s not, with a maximum 5000 nits brightness ensuring it’s visible even in bright sunshine.
You interact with the screen with hand, while wearing the bundled Meta Neural Band. It reads subtle electrical signals in your muscles, turning gestures into directional inputs and selections. I quickly got the hang of making a fist and using my thumb to scroll up, down, left and right during a short demo, as well as double-tapping my thumb and middle finger to activate the screen.
It has all the features you’d expect from a pair of smart specs, like taking calls and streaming music from a paired smartphone. The colour screen then lets it display messages, put real-time subtitles or foreign language translation in your line of sight, or visually give walking directions when using maps for navigation.
Meta’s virtual assistant can also be invoked at any time. It can answer questions and follow-ups without having to say the trigger word each time, and it can access the Glasses’ on-board camera to provide context to whatever you’re looking at. Of course the Glasses can also snap photos, record short videos and live stream, but only when the activity LED (which Meta says is virtually tamper-proof) is shining.
There’s still just one style – Ray Ban’s iconic Wayfarer – which can be had in black or semi-transparent tan colours.
The Meta Ray Ban Display is available to order in the UK and Canada from today. Brits can expect to pay £749, versus the $799 US customers have been paying for the past twelve months. Pre-orders open in France, Italy and Germany today, with devices shipping from October 13.
