Every time we review a Framework laptop, we find familiar pros and cons. They’re truly upgradable, incredibly repairable, but we always wish the battery lasted longer. We always wish the build quality were top notch.Today, Framework is announcing what could be the answer: the Framework Laptop 13 Pro.I just tried it at Framework’s event in San Francisco, and the build quality feels like night and day compared to the somewhat piecemeal designs the company’s released before.Sleek. Image: FrameworkIt’s the company’s first laptop to be fully machined out of blocks of 6000-series aluminum, its first with a haptic trackpad, and its…

Under Steve Jobs, Apple released the groundbreaking products that defined the company. But the company wouldn’t be what it is today without Tim Cook’s reign of ruthless efficiency.Jobs’ legacy has long been written at this point. He was stubborn, unpleasant, and a generational visionary. He pushed the limits of industrial design and brought technologies together in ways that others laughed off at the time. It’s an iconic tenure that’s basically unequaled anywhere else in tech. But the radical thinker passed the torch to a very different kind of CEO in Tim Cook in August of 2011.Tim Cook is an inventor…

The incoming CEO of Apple John Ternus has addressed employees, claiming now to be the “most exciting time” to be at the company in his quarter of a century with the tech giant. Ternus’ comments at a private all-hands meeting in Cupertino were reportedly passed along to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The former project design lead and head of hardware engineering will replace Tim Cook in the big chair on September 1. At the meeting, he reportedly said: “I’m not exaggerating when I say this is the most exciting time to be building products and services at Apple in my entire…

Microsoft has announced the price of Game Pass is dropping significantly from today, but the cut comes at a cost. New Call of Duty games will no longer be part of the proposition at launch. In a blog post on Tuesday, Microsoft announced that Game Pass Ultimate is dropping from the elevated price of $30 down to $23 a month. PC Game Pass on the other hand, drops from $16.49 to $14. That’s a massive boost for gamers who’d simply like access to hundreds of on demand games without paying through the nose for the new Call of Duty, which…

Posting links to X through custom social media software just got a lot more expensive. On Monday, X significantly increased how much it costs to post a URL via the X API, which is what third-party tools use to hook into the platform. It now costs $0.20 when a link is posted, up from $0.01.Any change to make posting links more expensive will likely make X even less attractive to publishers than it already is, especially given the widely held suspicion that linking news articles can lower a post’s reach. The issue came up in a recent spat between Nate…

Apple Silicon chips. The iPhone’s dominance. Apple Vision Pro. During Tim Cook’s 15-year tenure as Apple CEO there were highs — and in the case of the Vision Pro, maybe a low — that helped define Apple as one of the most dominant forces in tech even without Steve Jobs. But one product doesn’t get the recognition it deserves, as evidenced by The Verge’s Apple Top 50 products, where the original AirPods don’t even crack the top 10.Before AirPods, almost all earbuds were still wired back to your phone or iPod. Apple’s ads leaned into the aesthetic with vibrant neon…

Oppo’s Find X9 Ultra offers something that no other new phone has for three long years: a 10x telephoto lens. In an attempt to win the photography front of the war between the various Ultra flagships, Oppo has turned to a trick last employed by Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra. It’s a better 10x lens than ever before, but is it good enough for the moments you might really need it?The long-distance lens is the best of its kind, but compared to this phone’s other lenses it struggles a little with the usual suspects: moving subjects, low light, and moving subjects…

Introduction The Find X9 Ultra has a very high bar to clear. Its predecessor was one of 2025’s best phones for photography – possibly the best, depending on who you ask – and the competition has only gotten stronger in the months since. Five hundred megapixels’ worth of rear camera sensors ought to help… Oppo has gone even harder on hardware than it did for the outgoing Find X8 Ultra, resulting in one of the widest zoom ranges of any phone – and that’s before taking the optional lens extender accessory into account. Long-term camera consultant Hasselblad is also front…

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Granted, 19th-century proverb writers were talking about the fruit, but Tim Cook helped give new meaning to the adage with the release of the very first Apple Watch. In fact, I’d argue that when he hands the reins to John Ternus in September, it won’t be iPhones, Macs, AirPods, or the Vision Pro that defines Cook’s legacy. It’ll be how the Apple Watch set the course for modern health tech. You don’t have to take my word for it. In 2019, Cook himself told told Mad Money host Jim Cramer, “…If you zoom…
